~ A different Kind of Playing Hooky ~

Hello!

…well I’m sharing my first ever finished granny stripe scarf, with the first scalloped border I’ve ever attempted!!! ~ I’m pretty happy with it!
(and of course I had to add a few crocheted flowers to the ends for whimsy) ~

I didn’t use a pattern per se, and just winged it mostly, but I’ve watched and thoroughly enjoyed learning from numerous tutorials from @meemamakes, @moorlandcottagecrochet & @beelori1 ~

((don’t look too close, there are definitely numerous dropped stitches, miscounts and my tension needs work - but I’m loving this new crochet adventure I’m on!))

I’m not sure what the yarn was that I used,
• but think it is a variegated Noro,
• the purple scalloped edging is I Love This Cotton in french lilac,
• and the flowers were worked using 2 strands of size 8 @valdani_threads perle cotton.

♥️thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement!

~ New Punch Needle Patterns ~

 Howdy Friends,
and a happy HOT Monday afternoon to us all!

it is official,

I am OVER the SUMMER of 2024 already.

no rain, no coolness, too hot, no air.
done.

so poke me with a fork
I'm DONE!

I've been a hermit in the AC for weeks on end, held captive in my stitching chair.
but I am having fun lol

just thought I would let ya'll know I've just listed a few new items to the Etsy Shop

this punch needle pattern below is called
"the First Pumpkin"
and I punched it using DMC & Valdani threads.

Peter made the Black Heart Mounting board hanger for me to put it on,
and I love it so much we thought we'd make some for you too.

the heart is called ~
Black Heart Hanger in our Etsy shop...
it is painted on both sides so that way I can mount something on both sides
to get me through the seasons
without having to change things out completely LOL
{which I'll do anyway, but whateverrrr...}

and here is another punch pattern called
Mary's Pumpkins
yes, another version of my little Mary Witch...
this was punched using all Valdani threads.

...well I'm off to make supper.
Tuna Melts for us tonight, nothing special and I'm definitely not cooking in this kitchen!

thanks for stopping by!

OH!!! & P.S.
I saw that I received comments on my last post, and now they are GONE.
{thanks Blogger}
if you commented, can you send again so I can try to figure out wth is happening?
THANKS!

~ Chicken Brooch ~

 Hello Friends & Folk ~
and a very happy, sunny & bright Monday to us all!

well, i finished another little brooch....
I am enjoying creating them and I'm so happy that you love them too!
thank you for your purchases of the ones I listed in my Big Cartel Shop
https://goodsfromnotforgottenfarm.bigcartel.com

this brooch I will be keeping, though ~ as I never keep things for myself.
she will be worn proudly and will accompany me on many adventures!

this is another full-coverage brooch,
worked in split stitch using Valdani 3 ply cotton floss.

~ Osnaburg is my choice for the ground cloth,
as it has a perfect weave {for me}.

...many hours, many little stitches...
many thoughts, feelings and memories in each finished brooch.

Hoping your day is filled with many little things that make you smile!

~ whimsical stitches, storage and favorite threads ~

 Hello Friends & Folk!
and a happy Thursday to us all ~

Spring is Springing ~
and the birds are singing!
the sun is shining but is is a bit chilly....
but
I'll take it!

I've been enjoying creating a few whimsical embroidery projects
like this coiffed lady below!
{she requested a head-full of french knots for a comb}

I've put a bunch of different stitches into her, like:
french knot, daisy stitch, seed stitch, satin stitch, split stitch
&
straight stitch.
{and some I kind, sorta make up as I go LOL}

I put her in an oval flexi-hoop, as I thought she had a vintage-y look to her and
these hoops remind me of the 70's ~
...she is stitched on stained Osnaburg, and I used Valdani 3ply cotton floss
to stitch her with.

I'll be offering her as a pattern this weekend in my Etsy shop!

I started another embroidery, this time a basket...
not sure if those flowers will stay or if I'll change them, but I like the basket nonetheless ;)
again, stitched on osnaburg using 3ply Valdani cotton floss...

I'm not the most organized stitcher, but I'm trying!
I dumped out all of my small balls of floss that are my 'go to' colors
or what I call my Working Palette, and then rearranged them all by grouping into colors ~
blacks, browns, greens, blues,...etc.

then I wrote down their names and numbers in one of my notebooks that I keep for embroidery only:
some of my colors might look different to you, as I see colors a bit differently I think than others.
what you might perceive as green, to me may be used as a blue...
or an orange may be used as a red and vice-versa.
anyhoo, I took photos of my pages in case you wanted to save them for yourself,
or if you're just interested in seeing my thought process LOL ~

I'm sure you have your own ways of storing, organizing
and categorizing your Valdani 3 ply cotton floss thread balls, and I would love to hear about that!

wishing you a day filled with peace and creativity ~

~ Remembering ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk!
and a happy Tuesday to you all...
the weather-folk are predicting some falling 'stuff' for us this evening
and in to tomorrow night ~ a mix of snow/sleet & rain.

~ we'll make sure to have candles at the ready and plenty of wood for the stoves,
in case we lose power...
it won't bother me a bit to have to stay home due to bad weather ~
that just means more time to stitch!

〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

Some of you might remember this:
it was back in 2015 that I designed my stitched cuff bracelet...
 it reads:
"I Stitch therefore I am remembered"

"I Stitch" pattern for cross stitched bracelet available in our Etsy shop
I have been wanting to create more designs for cuffs,
but these will be embroidered, of course!

here is the first one in progress...
~ Strawberry Cuff ~

I'm stitching this on good old stained Osnaburg {cupboard cloth}
using Valdani 3 strand variegated cotton floss,
~ which I am doubling to make 6 strands...

split stitch and stem stitches used so far ~
stems are stem stitch, the rest is split
not sure what the flowers will be yet, perhaps satin stitch or...?

since staying home while I am under treatment for my
Actinic Keratosis and using fluorouracin,
I have been getting lots of stitching done...
here is my nose today, day #8 of treatment:

keeping my mind and hands busy
~ to keep me from thinking about my nose lol!

So tell me what is in your sewing basket today??

~ Monday monday ~

Good Morning
~ Friends & Folk ~

an absolutely perfectly dreary and damp November day
here at our beloved farm this morning ~
I say perfect,
because my favorite days always seem to have
some kind of 'off' weather involved....yes sunny warm days are wonderful,
but
there is just something about a day like this that makes me feel cozy
...wanting to light candles, bake something good and stitch the day away.

• • • • • • •

My thanks to all of you who send me kind emails,
messages and the like concerning my eye ~
it is so much brighter and I can see much clearer now!

when I close my left "new" eye, things look so bright color-wise...
still a bit of a blur, but I am almost at the end of my daily drops
and am sure that the blur will totally go away once I've finished them.

My "old" eye {the one on the right }
~ still has the cataract and lens surgery to come...later this month.
...when I close my 'new' eye and look only through the 'old' eye,
it has such a yellow cast due to the cataract!
I cannot believe the difference and am eager
to get that one removed and the new lens implanted.

• • • • • • • •

I am slowly getting back to my stitching, punching and hooking.
{and computer work}
I have been working on this embroidery and am loving the way it is coming together ~

the linen is hand dyed, from Dixie Samplar Hand Dyed Linens
and I believe the color is Olive Branch ~ it looks like a 32 count to me,
but without cross stitching on it I'm not sure.
I pulled it from my baskets and thought it would make a loverly color
for a background to a Winter Embroidery Sampler of sorts ~

you can see I'm slowly adding one of my signature 'Ladyes' to it,
and yes, she is much bigger that the house to her left ~
she may become an old style fraktur angel
but I'm still pondering on that ~

I just love the old works where there was no real perspective or rule of sizing for motifs.
primitive, naieve, untrained, unschooled; whichever you'd like to call it,
in my opinion ~ perfectly
humble.

still working at my kitchen table when the morning light is good ~
but I will move to my stitching chair in the keeping room this afternoon
~ where my bright lamp and south-facing window is.

I'm stitching this with doubled Valdani pearl cotton size #8
in colors from my Designer Collections with them...
using mostly split-stitch as that is my very favorite stitch to make and very forgiving too ~

**KINDLY TAKE NOTE**
We will NOT be holding our
1st Monday Needle Night this evening ~
but hoping to get things back to schedule for that in December 🎄

Oh! and remember to follow me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook too ~
I post quite often throughout the day on those sights ~
