~ Something Wooly this way Comes ~

a sneak-peek of the design I have submitted for the Fall Issue of
Wool Works Magazine

I really should design more wool applique...
I do love it's simplicity!

~ A few of my favorite little rugs ~

Hello Friends & Folk!
and a Happy Saturday to you!

What a busy week we've had here at the farm ~
...glad to see the weekend come!

and our weather is surely Fall-ish today too
 with temps in the 70's making this farmwife one happy girl :)

I thought I'd pull out my fall rugs in my collection and show them to you {again}...I just love them so much I am thinking about leaving them up here in my sewing room all year long :

 this one below,
was hooked by Sherry Kristoff in 2014....
and I am not sure who the designer is Pineberry Lane.

this one below was designed & hooked on burlap by Bonnie Stahl in 2005
it measures approx. 6.5" x 9.5"

here's one that was hooked by Lori Rippey {below}
in 2013

this one below was hooked by sweet Sandi Lucero!

 a favorite of mine...who doesn't love a chicken?
this rug was hooked by Julie Butler in 2015
:)

another beauty from Sherry Kristoff, love those spicy colors!
Sherry hooked this in 2011

yet another unsigned rug....but it holds my heart!
love everything about this design and the colors used below ~

and one more rug by Sherry Kristoff below:
simple and primitive.

and this is in my hoop at the moment ~
I'm almost finished with my witch's dress, then will move on to the pig....
the name of this is When Pigs Fly and it will be available to rug hookers on paper and on linen soon!
{I promise}

 So my query is this: ....just where shall I hook?
listening to the chickens clucking near the barn?
quietly on the porch in my rocker?
listening to the buzzbee's on the patio near the garden?
or how about the Keeping Room with my classical music playing softly...

....anywhere I choose will be just perfect.

~ Just Stuff ~

Hello Friends & Folk!
and a happy 2nd HOT day of August to you!

I flipped my calendar yesterday ~ {a Farmer's Almanac calendar}
and this is what it reads:
"If the first week of August is unusually warm
…the Winter shall be white and long."

hmm.
I guess we should start chopping wood for the stoves then?
*good grief*

well,
I have been indoors mostly ~
suffering from migraines and now night-time leg cramps.
WTH?

BUT - the phone lines are finally back on after 7 days {SEVEN}…
power is staying on, but now my huge commercial laser-printer
{the one I use to print all of my patterns with}
has decided to go nuts, and a needed call to the maintenance-folk
will hopefully have me up & running once again.

Mars in retrograde?
~  well that supposedly ended in June of this year
 and won't happen again until 2018.

so I'll blame it all on the heat. all of it.
the heat!

I wanted to show you a couple of fun previews of my upcoming cross stitch designs ~
I've been playing around with my iPad & photo-processing software…

here is
"Cat in the Moon"
&

"Hallowe'en Barnyard"

~ here they are below in full color,
 but not 'finish-finished'

I have a couple of related Hallowe'en/Harvest punch needle models yet to finish,
 then will announce the release of all of my new designs & goods ~ yay!

And I'll soon begin shipping the kits to members of our
Primitive Punch Needle Club from Notforgotten Farm™
{you can click on photo below to join}

so with all that said, I'll leave you with this:
I'd better get back to work…
{but I'm having too much fun with this!}

~ Switching Gears ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and happy sunny hot & humid Wednesday to you all!

After being in New England this past weekend,
my melancholy heart is longing for my roots…
~ the sights & colors of old Connecticut & Massachusetts
have my imagination going in a direction towards Autumn once again ~
and that is fine with me.

While in Sturbridge, we visited a little shop called
Quilt & Cabbage
where I found the most beautiful homespuns in my favorite shades;
blacks, greys, blues, cheddars ~ ticking & checks and plaids…
oh my!

I will incorporate these into my needlework as backings and such.
{actually I never have a plan in mind when fabrics find me ~ I just take them on home along with me}

see the little punched squirrel?
he will become a pattern for my Autumn/Harvest/Hallowe'en release
coming in July….

of course, being a shop owns myself, and one that carries lots of wools…
I HAD to purchase these from Doreen at Ye Country Mercantile in Sturbridge, MA
{what's wrong with me?}

they just jumped into my arms
~ like we were long-lost friends ~

you can see the beginnings of another pattern model below,
this one is wool appliqué of course…

I love the tags on this wool
"Wool Hooker"

If I get any down-time this evening,
I will drool over  peruse this new book that I purchased up north…

it was the cover that made me buy it….
{ya think?}

Printing
Packaging
Shipping
Banking
that's what's on my agenda for today ~
… before I get to punch any loops or pull any thread.

Have a beautiful mid-week-day my friends!

~ Fire & Moon ~

Just a short post this morning ~
….wanted to share these with you
~ because I think they're pretty!

it was a slight bit chillier last night,
so Peter lit a fire for us outside for us to enjoy by moonlight...

Friday night is actually the Full Moon,
known as the 'Full Pink Moon' in April ~

I love how the camera caught the shadows of the trees
and the dancing sparks from our little fire-pit!

Wanted to also let you know that in between sketching & hooking,
I am charting up a slew of new cross stitch designs that will be heading off to my stitchers ~
there are a couple patriotic ones, some 'everyday' designs
 and I have begun working on
 Harvest/Hallowe'en & Winter/Yuletide/Christmas designs
~ woot woot!

I'm heading to Richmond today,
to enjoy a 'girls' day with Hannah on & around the VCU campus
maybe get our toes done, perhaps some thrift-shop-shopping…

I'm sure we will get into some kind of trouble nonetheless ~
I just love being with her
;)
