~ Turkeys & Plumbers ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~

been a minute since I've posted here, but will be posting much more often!
...really need to get back to my 'roots' and this blog was started way back in 2008 ~

Last evening, we went for our walk ~
we have to wait until the sun is down, it's been that hot here...
the moon followed us...

our fairy solar lights come on, and that's our clue to take a walk!

this stillness of the woods and fields at dusk is beautiful,
~ the crickets and whippoorwill call to each other
while Peter is always on the hunt for tracks:

looks like an opossum friend walked just ahead of us!

and turkey tracks too!
Peter gets extra excited when he spots these LOL !

by the size of these prints, a gobbler must be in our midst...

my farmer and his turkey....

we named them John & Priscilla,
but we do believe we have two females...
we should soon see, as they are reaching the right age/weight to begin laying eggs...

Our baby hens have begun to lay ~
top to bottom:
Silkie, Ameraucana, 2 Rhode Island Reds, and Barred Rock.

This morning while the sun was just waking up...
in the cool stillness of this farmhouse, and before it turned too hot to do anything ~
I made a few more stitches on a new little cross stitch design...

of course it has turkey motifs in it... LOL

we have two lamps in our living room that are Apothecary jar lamps...
you can see that I love to fill them with feathers, nests and other natural-things
that we find on our walks ~ the feather-top you see {in the lamp-base} is a wild turkey feather.
the smaller jar holds my thread orts {Old Ratty Thread Snippets} from my needlework...
we also found the jar here on this property ~

so the title of this post is Turkeys & Plumbers.
here's why:

Iggy loves the bathroom.
He loves the tub, the sink...the faucets and the pipes.
...he insists on drinking exclusively from an old pot in our sink.
and he also insists on sleeping on the back of the toilet, in the empty tub,
or in said sink when the pot is not in there...
hey, I get it.
the porcelain is nice and cool,
~ and it is usually a very quiet room with not a lot of traffic.

me thinks he was a plumber in a past life.

~ New Cross Stitch Pattern ~

Hello Friends & Folk!
An evening post for a change ~
After waiting most of the day for this new pattern to appear in my Etsy shop,
~ Finally it is there!

This is a quick little stitch that I named
‘Indian Summer’
{that is when I designed and started stitching it}
I realize it is now November, but hey...
that little turkey is just too cute standing there
in his garden of corn and pumpkins ~ being visited by the crescent-man-in-the-moon !!

Available as a Paper/mailed pattern and PDF/Download

I hope you love him as much as I do!

~ Good Things ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk!
a very happy Thursday to you all ~

Isn't this mid-October weather fabulous?
well, it is here in beautiful old Virginia!

2 days in a row I have been wearing
socks and long pants and a long sleeved shirt ~ seems weird not to be barefoot!

So ~
I have been stitching on models...
are you like me and have so many project bags for your WIPS?

I love this one...
it is from my talented friend Vitoria Gable at
 Stitch N Button <---click br="" here="">

I love sugar skulls and anything Dia de los Muertos
and just had to keep this one for myself!

I mean just look at the quality and detail...
and that zipper pull is to DIE for {pun intended}
💀

here is the lining fabric
seen through the heavy vinyl front:

and here is the back!
🌼 ♥ 🌺 ♥ 🏵 ♥ 💮 ♥ 🏵 ♥ 🌺 ♥ 🌼

I am almost finished with this cross stitch design..
I named it 'Indian Summer' when I designed it in August,
so the name is staying even though I will be releasing it in a few days!

my gorgeous scissor fob also came from Vicki ~
there are so many cool things in her Etsy shop...
fobs....scissors....needle minders....project bags!

I have to finish this corn,
one more corn cob and one more pumpkin on this.
I'm stitching it on my 30ct. Old Farmhouse Linen
using 2 strands of DMC threads over 2 threads of linen ~

I like to switch between two of my favorite antique hoops when I work,
it helps the linen to keep from getting too marked by the hoops.

That's it for today!
what are you working on?
stitching? punching? hooking?
beading? embroidery?

there is so much creativity in each of us...
hoping you use a little bit of yours today!

~ It's coming.... ~

 There are hints everywhere...

take a moment to listen to the wind.
it's changing ~
stop and look to the tree-tops.
notice the subtle change in color and texture...

 impatiently waiting for it's arrival
just like every year.
history repeated ~

longing for this;
while suffering through heat & humidity
only makes it sweeter when it arrives.

come on in for a visit today ~
our little Needlework Shop here at the farm will be Open 10 - 4:00

together,
... we can dream about and create our very own Autumn :)

~))))))))))O((((((((((~
