~ Rolling right along... ~

While in Peninsula
for the From Our Hands show this past weekend,
I purchased a sewing roll made by Christine Miller ~
{{ a.k.a. Rebekah L. Smith's fabulously talented mom! }}
here it is below:

What appealed most to me about it,
is the old & nubby linen she used to stitch her motifs upon...
as well as her color choices of threads & fabrics.
~ Simply Perfect ~

So of course, that got these old wheels of mine rolling...
and thoughts of creating my own needle/sewing roll began creeping in.

So with this beautiful one now in my hand,
and the thousands of inspirational photos of genuine antique ones on Pinterest...
I think you can guess what I'll be making soon!

In the meantime,
here are my favorite ones from said Pinterest...

this one above looks like it might have been made from a cut-down sampler...

love the colors on this one, above.

sweet little thing!

the darker threads and fabric choices lend a moody feel to this one, above.

those calicoes!!!

the wonkier, the better.

ok, these fabrics are dreamy!

front & back view...housed under glass now for eternity.

and I think this one to be my favorite.

Do any of you have/collect needlework rolls or huswifes??

If so, you can share yours on my
SAMPLERMAKERS Group on Facebook ~
I would love to see them!
