~ Framed ~

ok, I couldn't hold out any longer...
I HAD to share this with you!

Peter has been making a Floor Model Frame for us rug hookers!

well, actually ~
it was our dear friend Eretta who asked
 if Peter would make one for her, to her size specifications...
and of course, he could only say yes!

proud Peter with his Floor Frame all folded up, waiting for Eretta to come pick it up :)
 she asked him to create it for her a couple of weeks ago...
and in between his regular schedule and him helping me get ready for the last two shows ~
he finally finished it for her.

lightweight, collapsible, sturdy and....big!
 here it is all set up...just two wing nuts & bolts to put it together ~

that's my man!

gripper strips come right to the end of each corner
~ to better hold a larger rug foundation.

...and here is Eretta taking a closer look at her new toy!
Peter is explaining to her how it folds up for storage...

she said she loves the height & size...
she hooks larger rugs so it will work beautifully for her!

Happy Girl!!!

taking it for a spin...

yep...works like a charm
;)

ok Eretta, you can quit now,
that isn't even your rug!
...Eretta?

Joan takes a turn at it, since it is her rug!
Yay!
it's Joan Approved too!!

Robin said she wants one, so does Joan & so do I...
{{mine will be a bit smaller though, but made with the same loving care that went into this one.}}

ok Joan, now you have to give Eretta back her frame!

for those interested in purchasing,
Peter will be making these available soon...
you can email me for a price/shipping quote to your zip code if you'd like ~
notforgottenfarmwitch@gmail.com or call 434-263-6508

back to work now Peter,
I cannot Wait to get mine!

~ Gear-Switching ~

Happy Friday
~ Friends & Folk ~

it is a cloudy morning here at the farm…
we could use a little rain to help our returning garden-sprouts!
{and for our fur & feathered friends as well }

I think it will be a great day to enjoy the comforts of my stitching chair and watch a few old movies.

I am almost finished with my Bee Witched rug.
I probably have only a few more loops to pull in the background, then begin the edging.
but
I have also been plying my needle & thread once again…
{{ I heard their lonely cries from deep within my sewing basket }}
…and who am I not to oblige?

when I'm hooking, my mind wanders to stitching.
when I'm stitching,
my thoughts turn to punch needle…
~ the gears in my brain are always switching!

here's what is in my hoop at the moment:
"Huswifery"

An old tattered pin-ball & an equally as old thread stand
keep me company while I work.

surrounding myself with things from the past seems to coax my mind to another time…
bringing thread & linen to life with each stitch.

~ listening to the pull of the stitches calms my hurried soul.

I am using all DMC threads {1 over 2} and am stitching on Weeks' 36ct "Linen".

I'll share the finish of
"Huswifery"
very soon ~

… hoping you enjoy your day…relish some quiet-time & handwork.
It's so good for the soul!

~ Fire & Moon ~

Just a short post this morning ~
….wanted to share these with you
~ because I think they're pretty!

it was a slight bit chillier last night,
so Peter lit a fire for us outside for us to enjoy by moonlight...

Friday night is actually the Full Moon,
known as the 'Full Pink Moon' in April ~

I love how the camera caught the shadows of the trees
and the dancing sparks from our little fire-pit!

Wanted to also let you know that in between sketching & hooking,
I am charting up a slew of new cross stitch designs that will be heading off to my stitchers ~
there are a couple patriotic ones, some 'everyday' designs
 and I have begun working on
 Harvest/Hallowe'en & Winter/Yuletide/Christmas designs
~ woot woot!

I'm heading to Richmond today,
to enjoy a 'girls' day with Hannah on & around the VCU campus
maybe get our toes done, perhaps some thrift-shop-shopping…

I'm sure we will get into some kind of trouble nonetheless ~
I just love being with her
;)

~ Midweek Musings ~

… and a
 Happy Wednesday to you
~ Friends & Folk ~

More progress has been made on BeeWitched…
I've finished her dress and have moved on to the background ~
yay!

… since the 2 main motifs are so big,
and have so many different colors & textures going on in them,
I decided to keep the background very plain…

I chose a tone-on-tone 'black'
{which consists of blacks, dark greens & brownish-ness}
all in the very same wool.

 and have big plans for the border though…
I will bring those colors back around for my finish!

"oh... hey Ig!"

"what's that you say…?"

Iggy is always chattering-on about something or another….

 ~}}}}}::O::{{{{{~

I've been in my sketchbooks again ~ just finished up this Lady last night…

"Witch Stitches"
 2016 ~ ©Notforgotten Farm ~

I love how her hair floats along with her sewing needfuls…
{{ can you see her little friend? }}
perhaps her tiny companion startled her ~
… or she is allowing her stitching tools to enjoy a bit of flight?

Her wizened face & gnarled hands hold many stories I'm sure.
{and I wonder what secrets that skeleton key on her waist can unlock?}

I enjoy sketching in my 'down-time'…

these penciled scratchings are the impetus for my needlework & folk art designs,
even though these are much more detailed
when rendered in pencil & ink,
~ than in cotton thread or wool loops.

I like to flit between my more primitive & naive style
 to more of a 'fine-art' look…
and I usually can find my niche somewhere in there with my style
that I call
~ 'Primsical' ~
{{ not quite real but certainly not total imagination only }}

Hoping you can all find a little magic in your week!
