~ Stir Crazy and STUFF ~

....or shall I name this posting:
"Stitch Crazy"?
because that's more like what I am lately...

I haven't been out of the house,
{{ off the compound so-to-speak }}
for 10 days!

no trips to the store, no post office drop-offs.
{by me anyways - my dear hubby has been handling all of that for us}
since I have been looking like ~ Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

I am at day #10 of treatment and cannot believe how sore my nose is!
a blowtorch would have been a quicker way to do this, me thinks {just kidding of course}.

Anyhoo ~
those that follow me see that I create every day.
Every. Single. Day.
and as I have said numerous times before;
my needle, thread and hoop are soothing therapy for me...

10 days at home gets me into lots of places in my head where I want to be,
and some I can't get away from ~ so I try to keep to my Sewing Room
and root through my overflowing baskets. boxes & totes of STUFF
like a wild, red-nosed truffle-pig looking for some elusive treasure that I didn't know I needed.

I never know what I will find in my vast collections of thread, fabric, textiles & trims!

S.T.U.F.F. :

• Something Unidentifiable Filed away for the Future

Scraps and Trims saved for Uncanny Flights of creative Fancy

Several Totally Useless Fibers and Fripperies

Save That Until Feeling creatively Fabulous

Shove Tug & Unravel all of that Fantastic Fiber

Some Totally Useless stuff Forever Flowing

{yes, I made all of those up ~ remember the Stir Crazy bit?}

So my sewing room is on it's ...um...ear.
and I don't care one snippet.
I find it very freeing to be messy {creatively} in this,
... MY room.
I can leave it, or tidy it up ~ it is my space...

today I have no shame in my game!
 ha!
no guilty thoughts about it.

when choosing an area rug for my room,
I knew it should be bold and colorful...
oh, and floral!
but most importantly,
it should hide well, any thread tails or wool scrap ~
while morphing these into itself to become a whole new type of carpet to tickle my toes upon.

so
Dust Bunny's ~ do your thing...
Wool Worms, you may procreate & multiply with glee and abandon!
Threads and Fluff & Fabric; you have permission to creep out of your containers.
~ I will not interrupt your process of creating ~

Then...soon and
once again, I will clean it up and begin the whole routine over again ~

~ Adaptations, Conversion & Diversions ~

Hello Friends & Folk!
we woke to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain this morning...
a slight bump in our quest for Spring to arrive,
but tomorrows temps will be in the 50's!

going through the treatments for my nose has me holed-up in the farmhouse though,
and as usual a needle and thread is part of my therapy....
with embroidery being at the top of my list.

Did you know,
that my Embroidery designs can be converted easily for Punch Needle
AND
my Punch Needle designs can be used for Embroidery too?
for instance, here is my design for the embroidered version of Tulip Polka, below:

and here is a beautiful version of the same design, needle punched by the very talented

So,
if you have been interested in one of my patterns for embroidery, but wanted to punch it,
you have my permission to purchase from my Etsy shop and do just that :)
or
if you see one of my punch needle patterns that you think you might like to embroider,
you also have my permission to purchase it and embroider it to your heart's content ♥

I kindly ask that you refrain from SHARING patterns between friends, and if you decide to sell a finished project from one of my designs, that you mention me/notforgotten farm
as the actual designer ~

I would love to see your punched versions of my embroidery designs,
so do share them on Instagram or Facebook!

~ Remembering ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk!
and a happy Tuesday to you all...
the weather-folk are predicting some falling 'stuff' for us this evening
and in to tomorrow night ~ a mix of snow/sleet & rain.

~ we'll make sure to have candles at the ready and plenty of wood for the stoves,
in case we lose power...
it won't bother me a bit to have to stay home due to bad weather ~
that just means more time to stitch!

〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

Some of you might remember this:
it was back in 2015 that I designed my stitched cuff bracelet...
 it reads:
"I Stitch therefore I am remembered"

"I Stitch" pattern for cross stitched bracelet available in our Etsy shop
I have been wanting to create more designs for cuffs,
but these will be embroidered, of course!

here is the first one in progress...
~ Strawberry Cuff ~

I'm stitching this on good old stained Osnaburg {cupboard cloth}
using Valdani 3 strand variegated cotton floss,
~ which I am doubling to make 6 strands...

split stitch and stem stitches used so far ~
stems are stem stitch, the rest is split
not sure what the flowers will be yet, perhaps satin stitch or...?

since staying home while I am under treatment for my
Actinic Keratosis and using fluorouracin,
I have been getting lots of stitching done...
here is my nose today, day #8 of treatment:

keeping my mind and hands busy
~ to keep me from thinking about my nose lol!

So tell me what is in your sewing basket today??

~ Seeing Spots ~

 I love spots actually,
polka dots, spots on puppies...
a spot of tea ~

but I do not like spots on my nose.
can you see the culprit??

there....right      there.

a bugger trying to get a photo of the interloper this morning
due to the dark dreary day we're having...

but there it is,
and I am heading down the  dusty  saturated  road to get it biopsied
and hopefully eradictaed before it invites it's friends.

 wear your sunscreen ya'll.

~ Tea & Embroidery Class Photos ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and a very happy Sunday to you all...

it's a bit cloudy here on the farm today, but it's perfect weather for staying home, cooking up something good for supper and working on my stitching!

Yesterday was our Tea & Embroidery class here in
the Studio at Notforgotten Farm ~
we welcomed a bunch of friends who came to stitch a teacup-themed embroidery,
then learn all kinds of neat things about teas,
mix our own herbal teas, taste our teas & laugh {alot}.

my portion of class was of course teaching the embroidery ~
{Miss Joan is working on her rug hooking}

we got right to work tracing our designs onto our linen,
and the needles were flying after that!

here are the photos of their beautiful progress:
Miss Anita

Miss Robin

Miss Sharon

Miss Shari

Miss Jan

Miss Fran

Miss Gail
 aren't their projects just fabulous?
{I think so too}

as the girls were working on their stitching,
Miss Nancy began her portion of class ~
teaching us all about herbal teas!!

Miss Nancy brought along a small portion
of her favorite herb-related books for us to peruse ~

she also shared with us her beloved china teapots
and china cups & saucers handed down from her family!

Nancy is so knowledgeable when it comes to herbs, their properties for healing and such ~
it's always a pleasure to hear her talk about her gardens, her tinctures and herbal concoctions...

we had a great time learning about mixing our own herbal teas,
and then tasting the wonderful 'recipes' that Nancy has made and shared with us ~
so many beautiful jars and bags filled with dried, organic goodness for us!

Robin & Anita are busily learning and mixing
their own special batches or herbs for their teas in the photo below...

the entire studio was filled with the warmth of friendship and tea ~
and oh how loverly it was to breathe in all of the scents from those herbs!

OH! I forgot to take a photo of our Goodies
~ but ~
we enjoyed:

Cucumber, Dill and Cream Cheese Tea Sammies
Herbed Egg Salad Sammies
Deviled Eggs with Herbs
Bacon, Spinach & Shallot Mini Quiches
Fresh Mozzarella & Sweet Tomato Salad with Fresh Herbs
Olives, Cheese & Pickles Crudites
Lemon Cream Cheese Bars
Lemon/Lavender Shortbread Cookies
Fresh Mandarin Oranges
{{ and of course Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Eggs!! }}

and since Miss Joan was working on her rug hooking ~
here is her progress on her 'Magdelena's Menagerie' by Kathy Clark:
love that dog!!

A special day filled with Goodness of all kinds ~
wishing you could have all been here with us!

Look for Miss Nancy to return this Spring
with another class on herb-related wonderful-ness!!
