~ Good Things ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk!
a very happy Thursday to you all ~

Isn't this mid-October weather fabulous?
well, it is here in beautiful old Virginia!

2 days in a row I have been wearing
socks and long pants and a long sleeved shirt ~ seems weird not to be barefoot!

So ~
I have been stitching on models...
are you like me and have so many project bags for your WIPS?

I love this one...
it is from my talented friend Vitoria Gable at
 Stitch N Button <---click br="" here="">

I love sugar skulls and anything Dia de los Muertos
and just had to keep this one for myself!

I mean just look at the quality and detail...
and that zipper pull is to DIE for {pun intended}
💀

here is the lining fabric
 seen through the heavy vinyl front:

and here is the back!
🌼 ♥ 🌺 ♥ 🏵 ♥ 💮 ♥ 🏵 ♥ 🌺 ♥ 🌼

I am almost finished with this cross stitch design..
I named it 'Indian Summer' when I designed it in August,
so the name is staying even though I will be releasing it in a few days!

my gorgeous scissor fob also came from Vicki ~
there are so many cool things in her Etsy shop...
fobs....scissors....needle minders....project bags!

I have to finish this corn,
one more corn cob and one more pumpkin on this.
I'm stitching it on my 30ct. Old Farmhouse Linen
using 2 strands of DMC threads over 2 threads of linen ~

 I like to switch between two of my favorite antique hoops when I work,
it helps the linen to keep from getting too marked by the hoops.

That's it for today!
what are you working on?
stitching? punching? hooking?
beading? embroidery?

there is so much creativity in each of us...
hoping you use a little bit of yours today!

~ Thread Tails {Tales} ~

 Hello Friends & Folk!
...sweet mid-October greetings to you on this *sparkler* of a day!

I have been a busy little stitching-witch lately ~
the busiest season is upon us now,
readying ourselves for holiday sales both in the Farm Shop and on Etsy...
as well as finishing models for new designs-to-come and class models too!

here is a quick cross stitch that I'll have ready by weeks' end ~
it isn't named yet, but there is a turkey, pumpkins and corn.
I will be adding beads to this and am dying to see the finish myself!!

another embroidery design in my hoop ~
this is that little Fox in the Holly brooch that I shared with you previously on IG & FB:

Joan & I will be heading down the dusty road to Tipp City OH
a week from this coming Tuesday for a workshop with Ali Strebel
... I'll be teaching my class students this project below
called "Crow Jack" ~ combination punch needle and rug hooking
{I love it!}
I will also be vending there so come out for a visit!

...and I'm almost finished on the background of this,
which I'm calling "the Yule Mule" LOL
~ punched with DMC & Valdani pearl cottons:
me thinks I'll be adding some beads to this one too,
cuz I am slightly smitten with beads/beading now.

and this is my project in the new huge Winter edition of
Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher Magazine:
a needle punched owl with glass eyes wearing a tophat!

Deb Jochim
always does a stellar job with this beautiful publication
~ and I am always so proud to be a contributor
 along with my talented needleworker Friends!

well I am off to do some chores before sitting down to stitch on the patio
where I will absorb some vitamin D from this beautiful October sunshiney day!
hoping you all find time to create something beautiful...

~ Autumn Sunday Musings ~

 Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
a wonderfully crisp October Sunday it is here on the farm!

I heard geese flying overhead this morning as I was waking up...
heading south to their winter homes.
but
I like to pretend this is what was making all that racket:

I have been a huge fan of Charles Wysocki since my childhood!

For those who have been following along on the progress of my embroidered Santa brooch,
I finished it yesterday ~ the addition of the beaded edge and berries just makes me smile ~

I just have to sew the pinback on and it will be fully finished off {FFO}
finished size approx. 2-1/2" x 2-1/4"
and yes this will be a pattern with detailed instructions.
I plan on a Youtube video tutorial for this type of embroidery
when I release this and {a few others} in the coming week or so ~

Of course,
I had to begin another brooch ~ so many irons in so many fires but that is me!
so
I drew one up on my osnaburg fabric and have put in a few start-stitches...
these help me with direction and shading as I stitch
~ and will be covered by my tiny little split stitches soon.
** Click on the Santa brooch photos to enlarge them, you'll see those tiny stitches!

It is a sleepy little fox nestled in the holly leaves ~
and I cannot wait to see this one come to life!
and I know my sweet friend Nancy B. will love it too...
🦊
of course I will add some beads to this one,
holly berries of course but perhaps a sprinkling of snow for the background?

Lately I have become a bit obsessed with beads
right along with my Tribe of enablers I mean Girlfriends!
adding beads to my work opens up a whole new way of designing for me ~

and speaking of beads...
I made all of these with the help of my friends
Sharon & Becky
who are fabulous beaders and have the patience of Job with us
while we try to learn new things! I tend to cuss alot {really? shocking!}
while I bead...it helps me concentrate {not}
and I thank my girls for putting up with me being the sailor/trucker in the room hahaha.

On the far left is an eyeglass chain, and the rest are bracelets ~
the one on the far right I just finished yesterday
... and holy cow that thing plucked my last nerve!
but
I muddled through and I love it.
friends Anita & Janice helped me through the last stages of it,
as Janice was just beginning hers
~ and I was finishing mine up.

I may make another like the one on your middle-left, {blue beads & jump rings}
it was the easiest one for me to make and I have the perfect beads
that I think will work nicely for another one.

Well folks ~
 I am off to grab my punchneedle, weavers cloth and threads!
a few new Christmas/Yuletide/Winter pattern models need to be worked on today! YAY!
I'll share some peeks of them, {and my progress on little sleepy fox embroidery soon.}
Oh.
I tend to post my progress photos on my Instagram page & FB too...
the links are up there on the right hand side of this blog
if you should care to follow me there.
❤♥❤

have a beautifully creative and peaceful day my sweet friends!!
