~ FREEBIE Cross Stitch Pattern ~ "Little Sam Snowman"

Good Monday Morning
Friends & Folk!

...while rummaging through my winter/holiday decorations,
I found this little cross stitched snowguy that I made last year ~

I had the idea to 'capture' him in a glass jar, so I repurposed a 'Cheerful Giver'
glass candle jar & lid....

here he is outside his glass world:

...and here he is captured once again inside...
{sorry about the glare}

here is the lid, I covered it with a circle of cotton batting {to fit just smaller than the lid}
and then covered it with a piece of fabric that I cut about an inch larger than the lid...

I glued the cotton batting to the top of the lid first,
then covered that with the fabric circle {centering it on the lid},
then brought the edges to the inside of the lid and glued into place.
{as you can clearly see, I wasn't too worried about the underside of the lid LOL}

...before I put little sam snowman in, I poured about an inch of my old white buttons,
rusty safety pins, old jingle bells, etc. into the bottom of the jar...

then I cut a circle of batting with my pinking shears
{just a bit smaller than the base of the jar} and tucked that on top of the buttons to look like snow.

after that, I placed some of my tiny white sisal trees in the jar,
and added a small twisty garland of shiny silver stars around the insides of the glass jar walls.

AND THEN
I plunked little sam snowman down in there.
~ I fussed around a bit {too much!}
and got him to stand
where he would lean against the jar side and some of the trees...

*** oh I forgot... ***
I strung some jingle bells onto some grey silk ribbon and then tied that around the jar topper.

and Viola!!
there he is with a very confused look on his face LOL

but I love him nonetheless
❤ ❤ ❤

So, would you like to make your own

~ a bit of hooking ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~

Monday, monday....
and another start to our week.

this morning started out chilly again, but the sun is warming it up.
{my brain started out sleepy again, but my tea is waking it up.}

~ I wanted to share my latest little rug hooking project with ya'll,
and I will...but first, I was reading Sandra's blog
{https://woodlandjunction.blogspot.com/}
and I spotted a rug that she is showing that has hands in the corners,
with flowers and a deer{buck} in the center...
it reminded me so much of this little hooked mat that I have!

mine is old old
...hooked on burlap with wools and stockings...
I rescued it from a dusty antiques mall somewhere here in Virginia:

Go read Saundra's blog, as she tells her thoughts
on these old rugs she kindly shares with us in her occasional blogger 'rug shows'

and here is my little rug, in case you missed it on FB and/or IG

I hooked it with a number 7 cut { 7/32"}
I wanted a winter-y atmosphere so I chose somewhat neutral wools....

...and kept the motifs very naive and plain.
don't you love the chimney smoke?

I placed it down inside this wooden box/frame that I had,
and I LOVE the look.

you can bet your buttons I'll be making more like this!

I'll be working on tiny Santa's today...
he's been in my thoughts for a week -or-so, and he needs to get out now.
I'll share my progress on him {them?} tomorrow.

Have a beautiful day my sweet friends...
be safe, love one another and keep creating.

~ a wooly forest ~

 Good Sunday Morning!

this time change thing....i'm over it.
my dogs are confused, my husband is confused ~
and I am, well...
perpetually confused!

Anyhoo,
here in the Studio yesterday, the Notforgotten Farm Tribe {aka 'the girls'}
made a whole forest of standing wool trees...
I had found a seller on Etsy that offered the cute textile bobbins
with black wood bases, and thought they would work well for our trees.

and they did!
and here they are:

each one of us made a tall one and a shorter one,
some made three branches for their trees, others made four {or both}
and there are two missing from this bottom photo as she had to leave early ~
so there were actually a total of 12 trees in our Notforgotten Forest

we had a blast, as we usually do...
~ lots of laughing and carrying on ~
it's like Art Class in grammar school when we get together for a project! LOL

thank you Miss Anita for teaching us how to make our trees!
xoxoxox

Hoping your day will be a creatively peaceful one my sweet friends,
no matter what time it is!

~ November ~

Happy November to you!
...this morning was a blustery, chilly but sunny morning ~

I knew immediately that I wanted to cozy up the farmhouse,
so I set to work fixing a big pot of pinto beans for the woodstove...

~ there really is nothing like cooking on a woodstove ~
the scent of the woodsmoke mingled with the aroma of bubbling soup, or stew or beans...
{{ then add to that a cornbread baking in my old black cast iron skillet }}
nothing says comfort more to me than that!

I put the Halloween decorations away, but left my dried arrangements, pumpkins and gourds.
I will bring out my small collection of turkey's, and place them where I always do:
on the mantels, in cubbies and on shelves...
always where my eye can catch a glance
and remind me of everything we have to be Thankful for....

we have so many things to be thankful for.
