Saturday Hooking & Easter Sunday ~

Good Morning my Friends ~
and if by chance you are taking a break from your cooking, baking
….or family at this very moment,
then HAPPY EASTER to you!

the ham is in the oven, the pie crusts are being chilled ~
the potatoes are scrubbed and cubed and I have a moment before I get down to business in my kitchen to share with you some quick snaps from yesterday ~

Saturdays here is the day for folks to drop in for a little hooky playing'…
usually we have a few, sometimes more.
yesterday Joan, Patty & Robin came in for a visit and to play in the wools :)

tulip chairpad (by me)
chatting & working away ~
l-r Joan, Patty & Robin (sorry Robin, you  moved so quick I only caught part of you!)
Robin came in with one of her rugs that she's working on, a beautiful robin with eggs in a nest…
(again, so quick I didn't get a chance to even take that snap!)

She had also picked out a beautiful peacock pattern from me at rug fest, and is color planning it ~
I cannot wait to see her get started on it!!!

busy.

below is Joan, using her new off-set scissors that she purchased from me ~
(I just got them in and they are AWESOME
...for snipping your wool close to the pile height of your rug loops)
just look at that look of determination on her face.

the little tulip on my frame in the same photo will be a finished purse
that will be available at our
open house (in less than two weeks now!)

i love tulips.

here she is wielding those scissors again (below)….oh my stars.
(oh! and speaking of that saying, "Oh My Stars" ~ it is one I use quite often,
…. Joan bought me that cute white mug you see up there with my favorite saying on it!)
Thank you Joan xoxoxox

now a professional tail-snipper

She is working on a little lamb design from Woolen Willow ~

sheep & flowers

Here (below) is Patty busy at work:
Patty is a relatively new hooker, as I taught her only a couple of weeks ago how to hook…
she is doing wonderfully ~ her hooking-style is very primitive and textural - love that!
Patty is also working on a rug from Woolen Willow.

hand cutting some of her wool strips

 Patty is left handed,
and she is really comfortable with that big old Hartman hook!
she is adding an eye to the crow on her rug, which was not there on the patter ~
...see? thinking out of the box already!
good girl!

remember Patty:
NO RULES! NO over thinking!
:)

keep on hooking

... here are 2 little finished (almost) projects from Joan ~
she is working on Karen Kahle's (Primitive Spirit) drawstring sewing pouch (hooked portion below)
and she is making a few of Jackie Schmidts' (TFC Folk Art)
little butterfly pincushions for the open house, too…

sweet & vintage
Uh Oh!
my timer just went off ~
time to bake the pies!!

Enjoy this beautiful day my friends!

A Day Early ~

Wishing you all a Blessed Easter Holiday ~
I will be spending the day with family and happily cooking and baking tomorrow,
hence the early wishes to you!

Hopefully I can get in a little hooking too,
( between courses of ham, sweet potato casserole and ricotta pie :)

I have been visiting the beautiful rug hook-ings of Annie Hayes
and thought these were appropriate for today's post ~
so I'm sharing them with you to admire…

her rugs just sing to me ~
her seemingly-unplanned colorways and talented use of scrap wools is evident in her subjects…
and of course, my favorite subjects of hers are her dear little animals ~

"Cape Cod Rabbit"

her subjects take on the importance in her rugs ~
using tweeds, textures and as-is wools to bring them to life.

"Red Leaf Rabbit"

simple backgrounds
nothing' fancy…

tiny details are made almost accidentally,
almost missed but look closely and you won't miss a thing :)

"Rabbit in the Grass"

...bright colors, naive designs
wonky-loops…
perfect to me ~

"Scarlet Tanager"

mis-proportions, and fun accents bring her rugs a child-like quality
that I admire greatly…

"Rabbit with Floating Flowers"

I could look at them for hours…..
(and do!)

"September Rabbit"

I hope you all get a chance to visit her website and be tickled by her
 heARTwork ~

wishing you all a creative & peaceful weekend my Friends~

Rise & Shine

wake up !
it's a beautiful day ~
...time to hit the ground running…lots to do!

cockadoodle-do!

while fetching eggs this sunny but cold morning,
we found her…

h e l l o

...setting on a small clutch of eggs ~

turn off that light!

in one of the 'apartments' in the coop…

occupied

so now we're expecting chicks in 21 days ~
...near or around May 8th

cluck cluck

our boys are not interested in this news at all ~
they just like to hang out together now even more so since Buddy became ill…
he is feeling pretty good now and I will remove his stitches today ~

sweet faithful friends

it was only in the 30's this morn ~
ice had formed in the water buckets in the barn & coops…
 ~ the farmhouse was chilly,
so Peter lit a fire in the old wood stove (again)

thought we might be done with it as we were in the 80's here last sunday!

... but I guess Mother Nature has other plans for us ~
I WILL NOT do any spring-cleaning
until the stove has been totally cleaned out and out-of-service for the year….
so please forgive the dust & such.

i need to wash those floors….ick!

I will be taking Charlie shopping today ~
he loves to shop…at every discount & bargain store in the area.
He might be 83 yrs old, but when he is pushing a shopping cart ~
WATCH OUT!

have a beautiful day my friends ~ share it with those that love you most ~

Rain, Rain…...

Happy Rainy Tuesday folks ~

Good day to stay in and hook, punch, stitch, read….eat ;)

I was watching this fellow all morning from my sewing room window -
he has been stealing dog kibbles from Lazy's dish
(since Lazy doesn't 'do' rain, he's been sleeping in the barn, letting his food get all wet)
all-the-better for Mr. Corvid, no?

click here to learn more about him…

love his little legs :<

I'm finishing up a punched design for the Winter issue of
can't show you too much...

little more to go ~

and I've been drooling over these in between projects ~
these books make me want to hook EVERYTHING in them.

look for them on Amazon

I have to get my tush in gear and finish ALL of the things I want to offer at our
Spring Open House on May 3rd
(I simply cannot believe it is April 15th and I have just over 2 weeks to get ready)

I'm working on all-kinds of things,
little book necklaces, tiny pincushion boxes, punched pins….
some folky dolls, a couple of hooked items and of course, some more
NEW PATTERNS :)

I'll keep you posted, you betcha.

OH!
I wanted to Thank the members of the Facebook Group: Prim Stitchers Society
for joining my Little Stitches Handwork Club!!

Thanks to Nan Lewis
….for the shout-out on there :)

Have a most beautiful, albeit soggy evening…

Folk House ~ ©Notforgotten Farm

... model stitched onto my 30ct Old Farmhouse Linen

I added a ribbon-wrapped safety-pin just for fun ~

I finished this design into a soft-stuffed pillow and edged it will hand cut wool strips ~
simply whip-stitched on using linen thread….

plain & proper
 the 2nd design is:
"BERRY PATCH"

Berry Patch ~ ©Notforgotten Farm

finished this one into a sawdust-stuffed pillow
and edged it will rolled cotton fabrics complimentary to the colors used in the motifs ~

rolled cotton strips hand stitched onto the edge

neat & tidy
 here they are both together:

my thanks as usual to Miss Flea (Felicia Martin) for stitching the models for me) xoxo
Hope you like them!!!!

~AND~
...since being so warm here over the weekend, all of our trees are blooming ~
here is a small redbud tree that my late sister Jo gave to me before she passed….

Charlie brought me some of his grape hyacinth yesterday from his yard ~
aren't the loverly??

i have always loved these ~

thank you Charlie!

purple and green ~

and here are some new snaps of the CATT Family ~
Momma Minew Catt
(a.k.a. "Mimi")

yes, we know you are beautiful…..

 Squire Mickey Catt
(a.k.a. "Nutzy")

"how do?"

 Miss Boog Catt
(a.k.a. "Sugar britches")

"hello!"

 and ~
Squire Tig Catt
(a.k.a. "Mr. Pinstripe")

"HI!"

We've been noticing that Minew favors Tig ~
they are never far apart and she dotes on him…
constantly chirping at him and he chirps back in return.

wash-day

we think it's because Mimi lost that little tiger kitten a few weeks back,
and when she couldn't find him she went a little crazy looking for him ~
and Tig and that kitten were identical almost.

momma washing tig's face ~ big say's "Eeeeew Mom!"

Mickey is the biggest (he was also first born)
Boog is so small next to him (she's almost all fuzz!)

together wherever we go ~

she hardly weighs an ounce I swear ~
but she sure holds her own with her two big brothers!!

tiny little sugar britches!!

they are now living happily in the 'Opossum Hut"
(a.k.a. chicken coop where I raised my baby opossums, Herman, Flo & Petunia)
read more about them by clicking the link below and scrolling down once you get there to read some of my older posts :)

Hoping this week brings you wonderful things!!!

* Blessed be *
