~ Decisions ~

wool dust is still bothering my eyes ~
which means i cannot cut/strip wool fabric to hook with.

so the decision has been made
to rug punch with yarns and my Oxford #14  & #10 punches...

have to keep these hands busy in this frigid weather!
 {plus, deadlines need to be met}

~ stay warm everyone ~

Lori, it sounds like the crafting gods are testing you. It's fortunate you have other outlets to pursue. You should sneak out to your fella's workshop and borrow a pair of safety goggles(the ones that fit like a swim mask) to wear while playing with the wool.
Bless you

Something you might try when you just have to pull loops again. Cut your wool strips slowly (raises less dust) then take the bundle you just cut and shake it over a waste basket. Now try hooking and see if the wool dust bothers you. The wastebasket I use has a white plastic garbage bag liner in it and I'm always amazed at how much dust/lint there is from newly but cut wool. Hope it works and you can pull some loops again.

Oh my, can't imagine how frustrating that is. But is it possible you could wear those clear plastic safety glasses with side shields to cover your regular eye glasses (if you wear them)? Think my ex had a pair with little holes on the side of the shields which would prevent steam from building up inside from the body heat.

Will be a sad day if I develop an allergy to wool dust. Not only would it inhibit my hooking but as I don't have a shop to sell wool I'd be lost. Hope you find your comfort zone.

Well??? One recovery at a time??? At least you have been able to rejoin your little x’s....Maybe while you reunite with them, your eyes will become wool-dust-tolerant??? I am adding back one love at a time (not just eye issues, but others s well)...and trying to focus on the joy I had missed in each. Robin

Glad u found a similar outlet,,, to rug hooking,,,
I enjoy rug punching, too,,,
But still love pulling those loops bezt!
I use alot of wool yarns now in my rug hooking mixed with strips ,, and notice how much duster the strips are,,, with my allergies, ,,,
Thinking of going completely to yarn!
The safety glasses sound good too,,,
I wear a mask to cut alot if wools,,, the safety glasses would add a nice touch! Haha,,,
Take care,
Your work looks great,,,
Stay warm,,, hooking,, punching,,,

I’m sorry to hear this Lori but in your usual manner you are using lemons for lemonade. Kudos
