~ Short & Sweet ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk!
and happy last day of April to you all ~

Saturday we enjoyed being back in the shop and having friends visit ~
I cannot tell you how those many weeks of being closed really affected me!
~ oh I am so thankful we are back to a regular routine once again.

 here are just a few snaps of the projects our friends were working on this past
Crafty Saturday at Notforgotten Farm:

OH just look at Nancy's rug!
designed by The Old Tattered Flag,
this is one huge undertaking ~ to see it in person is incredible!

Sharon is working on a design by Tonya Robey that was in a previous
Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine...
a very folky and colorful design that is so old looking :)

Joan is working on her 'Scratch' cat from The Bee & The Bear ~
we all agree that green background wool is so pretty!

  I am almost finished with my little applique project
that I shared with you recently, and need to finish the box that it will be attached to...
this will be a class held here on Saturday May 19th ~ more info to come ;)

and what else am I working on?
well it's a secret...one soon to be told and shown to you.
But I will tell you that it is red, it is hooked and it is dimensional...
and it will be a class that I will be teaching here at our Farm Shop on June 16th ~
{more info on that to come too stay tuned!}

...any guesses?

enjoy this day, love one another, be nice.
be kind and be happy!!

~ Thursday Morning Musings ~

Hey Howdy Friends & Folk!
a beautiful, sparkler of a day here at the farm...
laundry is hung, windows are open and I am ready to get my day started :)

I finished hooking "Corny Pete" ~
and have steamed/blocked him but now need to bind his edges...
today is a good day for that!

LOOK!
my Lily of the Valley are almost bloomed ~
cannot wait for their scent to fill the herb garden in front of the shop.

 I am working model for a wool applique class
~ that I will be offering here at the Farm Shop very soon...
look how bright our classroom is now!

Peter hung these fabulous farm lamps over each table for us when we are working ~
whether at class or just playing hooky on Saturdays lol...

 Speaking of wool applique,
here is a sneak peek at the project that will be shared with you all
in the upcoming Fall issue of Wool Works Magazine ~

I'm using beautiful rich mellow primitive wools from
Jan at the Wool'n Gardener  for my project model...
we carry Jan's wool here in our Farm Shop now!

and ~
Peter has made Extension Legs for our Standing Floor Frame©
so it can now tilt if you prefer to hook in that position ~

you can find our Standing Floor Frame© HERE
and
our new Extension Legs for the frame HERE

 So that's our news for today...
I will be heading outside to work on my projects ~

have a beautifully creative day my sweet friends!

 Happy Birthday
 ~ Big, Dolly, June, Grizzly, Bruno & Nico!

I love the rain,
but you already know that...

I'll put on the tea kettle
and nestle in to my chair and hook more on this rug ~

 I like this wool for the border, below:

we need a new patio umbrella...
I want a yellow & white striped one!

~ everything is green-ing but sloshy.
oh cannot wait for my lilacs to bloom!

no matter the weather.

I've been waiting to show you photos of our newly renovated shop,
and here they are!

Yesterday was our official re-opening ~
after weeks and weeks of being closed while Peter & Chris worked their magic...

let's take a tour!

{finally got my purple front door!}

{ the 'big' room now holds class/work/display tables }

{ new pegboard was added throughout the entire shop to hold our models }

{ Peter built shelving complete;y around the shop for merchandise }

{ Updated our furniture with a fresh coat of paint }

{ new shiny racks hold our wools in the 'wool' room! }

{ models can be seen more clearly due to new gallery track lighting }

{ white painted floors make it see so much larger }

{ wool racks have wheels so I can move them about }

{ Old favorites like our sewing tables that Peter made are still with us and put to work for display }

{lighter, brighter and farm-fresh!}

{got wool?  ~ we do!}

{ everything in it's place }

{ Peter made the lattice toppers in all of the windows }

{ new bright lighting over the counter }

{ a new look to the woodstove area with beautiful tile }

{ and I even have a cozy chair to hook in front of the woodstove now! }

Miss Joan came out to lend a hand, {thank you dear fiend}
and Pepper was here to greet you too ~ as she cannot leave Peter's side.
Roxy and the pups stayed busy in the barn all day...

Inside, outside and all around ~
such a difference in the way our little shop looks now!

I am blessed to be married to this wonderfully talented,
hard working, kind and gentle, always-giving, full of love, helpful, & hope-full person ~
Peter,
thank you for doing what you do for us to make such a wonderful life.

~ Tuesday Morning Ramblings ~

 Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and how very thankful we are to be here!

some of you might know that a tornado touched down in parts of Lynchburg, VA
on Sunday evening ~ crazy howling winds, horizontal rain and the darkest-greenish sky...

~ thankfully it passed over us, but left severe damage not far down the road.

the weather has been windy still, and our temps are nowhere near where they were just last week.
... hoping Spring wasn't blown away!

the grass is greening, and the sun keeps trying to come out from behind clouds...

Roxy & Pepper waiting for Peter to serve them their breakfast kibble...

last week's warm {hot} temps really helped our flowering plants/bushes to pop...
my snowball bush is budding!

inside,
I am working away on a hooked rug and coordinating punch needle project,
named
"Corny Pete"

OH!!
I am loving my new basket that I purchased from Diane Pearce
{while vending this past weekend at the VA RugFest}
especially love the purple dyed accent
it fits nicely on my Stitcher's Tray ~

I am hooking the rug with a combination of #8 & #9 wool strips ~
detail being hooked with the smaller cut, and larger areas being hooked with the fatter strips...

everything right where I need it to be in my cozy work area
~ in the back Keeping Room!
hooking on my Standing floor Frame© - check.
punch needle on our Hookinpunch Frame© - check.
wool worm basket - check.

Peter made me another Stitcher's Tray in a stained finish
for the arm of my wing back chair...
we have sold so many of our Stitcher's Trays
that Etsy has now added a 'Best Seller' label on our listing for it in our shop!
 Thank you all so much!!!

and here is the progress of 'Corny Pete' in punch needle ~

I will work more on both the rug & the punch needle this evening,
but right now I have to get my rear-in-gear and get in to the Farm Shop!!

Only 3 more days until we reopen on Saturday!!!
