Iggy:
"what's this ... what's this ????
why look! ~ a new rug to hook my claws into!
and chickens tooooo!
... oh thanx Mommy!"
Me:
"move along there, Igmeister...."
all done, finished ~
hooked, steamed and bound even!
I started this rug on the 4th {I think} and finished it last night, so
ten days it took me to hook it in-between other projects at hand...
I have to say it has been a joy to hook,
even though the color planning 'evolved' a bit during the actual hooking process.
I love it.
I love my wonky loops
{even though they are much straighter with the use of my loop-lifter!}
{{nod to dear hubby}}
♥
and here it is in it's entirety ~
finished size is approx. 19.5 x 27.5
{serged linen pattern is approx. 27.5 x 35.5}
I chose to edge this rug using beautiful hand dyed wool yarn in Rusted Orange from
Ali at www.alistrebeldesigns.com
using a crocheted edge technique that Karen over at
www.primitivespirit.wordpress.com shared with us ~
I never have done this edge before, but you can bet your best buttons I will do it again {and again!}
so thank you to Ali for the beautiful yarn, and Karen for the technique
:)
I've just listed the pattern for Lancaster Barnyard in my Etsy shop ~
offered in mailed paper pattern form, hand drawn for you on serged linen
OR instant downloadable PDF
and I will be bringing both the paper & linen patterns with me this weekend
to the Woolwright's Hook In
yay!!
I would love to see your finished Lancaster Barnyard!
blow is a rare sighting of Peter ~
he hardly ever sits still!
*** UPDATE on Arthur ***
I spoke with Joan last night, as she calls me 2x a day to keep me up to date on things...
Sadly, she told me that the Dr.'s have found multiple brain tumors, as well as tumors on his lung.
He is in Stage 4 and they are hoping radiation treatments will inhibit further metastasis.
please continue to hold them in your thoughts as they go through this together.
❤
Blessings from the Farm

So sorry to hear of Arthur's prognosis…I will continue to hold them in my thoughts, Lori.
On a happier note, your rug is, I believe, the BEST you've ever created (and considering what all you've created, well, my!)! Color choices, the edging, the design all contribute to a very folky and antique-looking rug. Beautiful, my friend!
I'll continue to keep Joan and Arthur in my prayers. Love the edge on your sweet Lancaster piece. I'll post my newest piece after I deliver it, tomorrow.
Hugs to Y'all,
Jane
What hard news to hear about Joan's husband .....so sad , I will continue to keep them in my thoughts & prayers.

Here in New England with the blizzard raging I am having fun punching away !!!! It is nice staying inside for the next few days .

This rug is one my favorite. Love the expression on the larger chicken. I will have to try the crocheted edge finish on my next one. I always have done cording covered with yarn which takes a long time to do.
So sorry to hear about Arthur, holding him in my prayers.
The Lancaster piece is lovely, especially your wonky stitches! I love your cross stitch patterns and am looking forward to Hallowe'en Barnyard, your primitive designs are some of my favorite.
So sad to hear the news about Arthur... continued prayers here for him and Joan. It's a blessing they have you and Peter for strength and friendship! Holding you all in thoughts and prayers.
Your rug is absolutely wonderful Lori! It really looks like an antique rug with your choice of great wools! That rust color crochet edge is fab!!
