Saturday Morning Musings ~

~ Good Morning Friends & Folk ~

I had to snap these of our sheep this morning ~
… so peaceful and quiet
{well except for the cacophony of roosters wishing me good morning!}

this is our Finn/Jacob Ram, 'Bobby' {pronounced: baaaah-bee}

 they are so sweet, these two ~
mother & son
so very gentle.

Bobby on the left, Esther on the right {aka 'Mommy'}

 Esther is getting up there in age ~ she's been with us now over 10 years.
~ not sure how old she was when we adopted her.
not sure how old she is in 'sheeps' years either...
;)

they both freely graze here on our property,
no fences to keep them in ~ all the fresh grass they can eat.
they sleep in the barn every night and are almost always up & out before we rise in the mornings.

I am working on a few new designs that incorporate by beloved sheep
watch for them in punch needle, wool appliqué, rug hooking & cross stitch soon!

 ~ this is an old Pennsylvania Show Towel
 {below}

I bought it {and a couple more} from one of my favorite antiques dealers,

I love it so ~
it is surely worn, damaged, stained old & tired.
{like me! ha!}

it was prepared for someone to stitcher her best on ~
then be hung by the loops you see below.
show towels were brought out on special occasions
 to 'show' visitors how well the young woman could stitch…

mine was never stitched on
instead it was folded and put away
seemingly for many many years as the ancient folds tell us.

I would like to stitch on it.
small, scattered motifs
simple & light
giving it a little more life….

this I will do as an 'in-between' project and keep it.
just for me.

I'll share my progress with you though ;)

our Farm Shop is OPEN today 10 - 3:00
come on our for a cup of tea and a home baked brownie {or two}
bring your stitching, hooking, whatever…

come create with me!

~ Blessings from the Farm ~

Hi Lori! What fun to stitch a show towel, stitching on that could go on for years. A new motif here, a new motif there. Looking forward to following along. Good morning to Bobby and Esther. Have a great day! ~ronda

Good morning! Would love to share tea at your shop. When I first saw your show cloth, my thought was a seasonal design in each "window". Have a great weekend!

Good morning to you!! I LOVE your sheep. How very calm they seem. I love the idea of adding small motifs on your show cloth. A wonderful way to be part of it's "history". Have a great weekend!

Would love to be closer and just pop by for tea and stitching. *sigh* Instead I'll wait patiently for those sheep to show up in new designs. Happy Saturday to you and Peter

I love the old Pennsylvania show towel!! What a fine idea, like a sampler…but ongoing! You---old, tired, and worn?! Your ideas and designs are ever fresh! Wish I could come stitch with everyone today...

Lori, Love sheep and look forward to those designs you are working on. From my view you are living a dream. Grass in the winter is something unheard of here. Above 0 degrees seems to be too. Someday we will venture to your farm and meet all the critters and see your little slice of heaven on earth. Off to work now so I can buy more. Krissy B.

I dearly would love to stop by for tea and stitch with you- a sweet invitation in a quiet wintry day. But I guess Northern Michigan is too far away. Maybe one day! Your sheep are beautiful.
