~ Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and a soggy morning it is!
...our 1/2 mile long driveway
is like a mud-chute with huge, deep puddles & tire-ruts…
BUT
our snow is almost all melted from the rains!
{{woohoo!}}
Here is what i'm working on at the moment ~
a folky design I'm calling
~ Sepia Sampler ~
I'm working on beautiful 30ct Parchment linen from
I'm so used to working on my own hand dyed, darker Old Farmhouse Linen,
that this is a breath of fresh air to these tired old eyes!
I am lightening up a bit :)
{I will be releasing my new hand dyed 'Ironstone' Linen this month along with new designs too}
so far, I have this stitched:
I wanted a cohesive, sepia-toned look to this sampler
so I chose the following DMC threads ~
611 ~ drab brown
640 ~ beige grey very dark
830 ~ golden olive dark
869 ~ hazelnut brown very dark
3021 ~ brown grey very dark
these are all colors that I turn to time-and-again when designing
….and are a constant in my favorite color palette.
don't you love my little stork scissors?
the print is a white-on-black floral ~ something different for me!
sweet & sharp and handy…
I made the little scissors fob ~
of course I had to add the tiny key & freshwater pearl too :)
it's a perfect day for stitching
{what day isn't?}
...made even more perfect with the addition of:
rain on a tin roof
a mug of hot tea
an old movie
a comfy chair
a crackling fire
the inspiration for this sampler in progress
came from one of my ink drawings ~
it will incorporate the bird, florals, heart, hand, date, key & house…
with an added alphabet & numerals, and a different border too.
I have an AWESOME ancient & crumbly white wooden frame
that I will be using for this when it's finished…
and I cannot wait to show you ~
today marks day FIVE on the
Buttermilk Basin Spring Thyme Blog Hop!
visit with Ali to see what she has for us ~ you 'wool' love it!
