Linen, Thread, Fabric & Day number 4 ~

Happy Wednesday to you!
yes I've been hooking on that rabbit rug.
no I have not finished it.
...instead,
I have been rummaging through my stash of hand dyed linens & threads again ~

 I am a huge fan of DMC threads
and work almost exclusively with them for my cross stitch & punch needle designs ~
I am however, presently & at-the-moment, wanting to stitch a larger alphabet sampler
using Gentle Art threads & Week's Dye Works linen ~
{subject to change}

I have a design in mind that has been rattling around in my brain for years ~
it is based on a few antique samplers from my memories
of living in Connecticut & New England…
jumbled-together
~ that I will borrow antique motifs from, a cherished date or two
and a few beloved initials sprinkled there-within.
oh ~ and an awesome floral border ;)

I will hand stitch this one myself first, then chart it.
somehow my mind tells my hand what to stitch,
and my hand concedes obligingly….

I've chosen Week's Dye Works 30ct Parchment linen as my preference…so far.
that may change at any given moment...
but I need to think more on the thread colors a bit.

 I may just turn back to my palette of DMC threads ~
as those early samplers so very long ago weren't stitched using variegated threads…

so we shall see what comes of this :)
and I'll keep you posted.

Yesterday,
my friend Joan & I headed up to Charlottesville, VA to visit
Cottonwood Quilt Shop

I 'needed' some fabric.
{yeah, right.}
and so did Joan
{not. ever.}
but
I had 'points' built up there to receive a free yard of fabric,
AND I had a 20% off Birthday Coupon too!
woohoo ~ off we go then!

and I came home with these:

 tiny, allover prints…
~ I love them so much ~

these will become backings for pin keeps & pillows,
….patches and sashes for whatever
and hey,
they are just pretty inspirational to look at all by themselves,
don't you agree?
:)

I may even toy with the idea of a couple of small doll quilts being stitched up with these fabrics…
I have to get my rear-in-gear and make finished items for the upcoming
Va. Rugfest
and our Spring Open House too :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and don't forget!!!
today marks the 4th stop on the
Buttermilk Basin's Spring Thyme Blog Hop
...make sure to visit Jeni at
Woolen Willow Designs
to see her project and read her recipe !!
….have a gentle & relaxing day my sweet friends ~
We all "need" fabric! lol... I think I even recognize some of that! I may have it in my "stash" too...
I can't wait to see your ideas turn into a sampler!
Beautiful fabric! Looking forward to seeing your sampler. Personally I prefer DMC. I am not fond of the look with the overdyed threads because they tend to be too varigated at times.
Your new fabrics look yummy! Wish I could get to Cottonwood--I used to know her when I vended at the Quilt shows (Sea Holly Hooked Rugs). Still have some fabric I purchased at one of the shows, a long time ago!
