Roxy comes home…..

We picked up Roxy last night
and brought her home to live with us ~

of course we didn't want to spoil the surprise by telling 'anyone' here
(Lazy in particular)

...so when he first saw her he couldn't believe his little old man-dog eyes!

"who's that?! …Dad? Mom? ...who IS THAT?!!??"

"we found a friend for you Lazy-bones…
so you won't be lonely here anymore."

"oh thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!"

and so they met with the initial butt-sniffing.
purely proper etiquette for the canine-kind…
and everything was good.

peter making sure the butt-sniffing was cordial ~

...and then the crazies set-in!

"hi i'm Roxy! wanna play wanna play run play chickens? wanna run? wanna…kittens! wanna run? wanna oh boy oh boy run jump JUMP! WHAT ARE THOSE !!!! (donkeys) RUN!!!! hey, wanna run? wannaplayplayplayplay?
(peter doing his best to settle her down by pointing his finger….how's that working for ya honey?)

Off they went ~ Roxy was a blur…
Lazy stood and watched…
and smiled.

"ok ok ok…settle down there Roxy ~ I'm a lot older than you.
BUT I will teach you everything I know and be a good friend to you"

Welcome Roxy!!
she is 7 months young ~
a very spirited girl with much wisdom in her young eyes
and a black silken coat….

good girl
She is getting used to her surroundings,
and the sights, sounds and scents of her new farm.

she listens well ~
well-enough at least for us to know
that she will become a much-loved, much trusted part of our family.

sweet-face

my husband now has another girlfriend…
Daisy, Minew & now Roxy!!
wow…he is so blessed :)

awwww….

she did however, completely obliterate the quilt we gave her last night,
and this is what we woke up to this morning:

and explosion of fluff and avery rambunctious Roxy
sometimes she goes so fast she is nothing but a blur…
but that's ok ~ we know she'll be safe here with us,
and we hope that she will love being here as much as we do ~

she is only being kept on her lead until she gets used to everything ~ then she will run free…
I hope our Buddy is watching and remembering when he came to us as a pup.
we miss you Buddy :(

my sweet-and-gentle-man is so happy she's here ~
...but I can see the grief still in his eyes…
hoping your heart heals soon honey.

i love you
Roxy will be here waiting to greet you all when you visit ~
but please remember that at the moment our little shop is closed until July 11th.

Have a most-wonderful day my friends!!

* Blessed be *
Lori

Well HELLO Roxy!
What a bundle of fun she's going to be!
I'm sure Lazy will have a mellowing effect on her . . . . .eventually :-)
And Buddy ? . . . he is smiling down on you! He's happy to see you and Peter sharing your love and I bet he's giggling at Roxy's antics.

Awww! I'm so happy that Roxy has such a wonderful home with y'all! And I started laughing like crazy when I saw the remains of the quilt. My yellow lab, Sophie, obliterates her babies (Goodwill stuffed animals) and my backyard is almost always covered with fluff!!!

This was such an uplifting post Lori....nothing helps ease the pain of loss like a new love. She will fill your days with adventure and mischief and become a member of your family ten fold and creating her own chapter in your life book. Congrats to your family and Roxy finding each other!

Great new addition to the family. Sorry about the quilt, you need to rethink bedding. When my cat was 8 we added a rescue kitten...The older cat Aggie now races around( not for long ) being pursued my Otto. I think it does Aggie a world of good.

OMGosh. your story brought tears to my eyes. You see, we lost our big boy Kody on May 21st. Daddy is really having a tuff time. Just not wanting to let go. Kody has been and will continue in memory to be a big part of our lives. He lived to be 11 1/2 which is a good age for the Alaskan Malamute breed. We need to find an adult doggie in need of a loving and caring family. Daddy is not ready but I am looking.
You are all so Blessed.

Peace with Hugs, Barb

Ha, that's a puppy lab for you, they chew everything in sight. We are lucky we got our lab when he was about 4, out of the chewing stage. Get her lots and lots of tennis balls and giant raw hide bones and she'll stop chewing everything else. She's so pretty!

Congrats on the new addition! Our Labs destroyed a few doggie mats too. And sandals. It looks like she definitely needs that lead or she would be in New York by now! Best wishes for a happy healthy life to Miss Roxy.

Lori, this just made me tear up. She is such a pretty girl. We rescued a beautiful black lab at 8 months old, that was 4 1/2 years ago. Still miss our other labs that we have had, but "Sadie" brings us such joy and I know that Roxy will bring you and Pete joy as well.
