After the rains ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and a Happy T G I F to you!

yesterday,
Miss Flea, Miss Joan & I went to town for a pedicure ~
( a treat to us from Miss Flea…thank you again my dear)

as usual,
the three of us had a great time.
lots of laughs and fun.

while we were in the salon, the heavens opened up and
DOWN came the rain!!!
...and it didn't stop.

really heavy, saturating rain ~
but, this morning is a pretty one although everything is soaked.
it rained SO hard that it helped us to chip-away more paint from our already pocked farmhouse ;)
(thanks Mother Nature, for the elbow-grease)
we figure that if we wait long enough to scrape/sand/paint the house,
the scraping/sanding portion of the job may be easier!!!
(just kidding folks ~ LOTS of hard work to be done)
IF we decide to paint the house ~ I am leaning towards siding,
but Peter wants to stain the house because it has rock-solid heart-of-pine clapboard siding.

we'll see who 'wins' this one ~

in the meantime, the rains left everything lush:
our bittersweet is climbing and has buds on it this year already!

triple-flag-holder was a gift from my sister Louisea
L O V E it!

a tiny potted rosebush that Hannah gifted me with for Mothers Day ~

thank you pumpkin!

tiny rosebush with a smiling sunshine stake from Miss Joan
(and a half-dead rescued ivy topiary I'm trying to resurrect)

on our front porch, we have a little ladder that I hang herbs from ~
I also placed a couple of small pots up on it…
we now have a family of house-wrens living in the one to the far left!!!

love my little red rocking chair….

 Jenny Wren, the tiny momma,
brings a continuous stream of fat juicy caterpillars, grubs, and beetles to the babes in the pot…
you should hear the racket they make!!!
(keeping Iggy on his toes and in the window watching for them!)

i need to change out the old dried herbs for some fresh ones ~

 and
while we girls were out in the pouring rain yesterday,
we did a little shopping at a local shop named:
Vintage Love
here in Amherst, VA
(If you love shabby, cottage, farmhouse, french or prairie decor, you will love this shop)

I found this sweet dress ~
it's 100% linen and I love the color/print…
it's nice and loose-fitting, like a long linen t-shirt
(hides those things we want to hide)
and
I got it at a steal for only $6.00!

i need to find more dresses like this one ;)

TODAY,
begins our new SUMMER SHOP HOURS ~
which means we will be
CLOSED today and every friday….
we are OPEN on Saturdays ONLY for the rest of the Summer
(unless specified or I'm away)

so to take advantage of today's sunshine,
Miss Flea, Miss Joan & I are heading to the
Village Greenhouse in Appomattox, VA
...for some plants & herbs ~
THEN
we will head to the Appomattox Gallery Antiques Mall
for a little retail therapy :)

I'll share pics of our adventures tomorrow ~

Hoping you all have a wonderful day spent with your best friends!!!

* Blessed be *
 Lori

Hi Lori,
What a delightful post this morning - well they are always wonderful for that matter.
We had some of those rains too Wednesday - but we needed it which is surprising from all the late snows we had.
I love the ladder hanging.
Blessings to you,
Karen

Sounds like a wonderful day, Lori. We are anticipating your downpours up here today, so no outdoor plans for me! Enjoy your treasure-hunt!

Sounds like you are in for a fun, fun day, Lori!! Love your little rosebush from Hannah...always so special! The siding would be easier to maintain in the longrun...But I have to agree with Peter...the pine would be hard to cover up...and would take away from the character of your farmhouse..which I've seen in person and love!!
