Sunday Dinner & Spools of my Thread...

Happy Wednesday!

I finished hooking a little chicken rug…
((no this isn't the larger one I'm naming "Chicken Soup",
you'll have to be patient for peeks of that one))

this one I'm calling
"Sunday Dinner"

Sunday Dinner ©Notforgotten Farm

 who doesn't love chickens?
and pie?
and chicken pot-pie?
….Mmmmm comfort food.

{oh, sorry…back to the rug.}

I wanted a very scrappy, almost early/vintage look for this little girl…
so I used some wonderful wools that I bought from
Mary Henck
and Rebecca Erb
while I was at Rug Fest saturday ~
some hand dyed, some as-is…

scrappy hen
I had some of the girls at the show kind of bewildered I guess,
because I hook my rugs with hand-cut strips (anywhere between an 8 & a 10 cut)
BUT
I use a tiny, FINE rug hook to pull my loops through the linen…

I'm also a 'high hooker' as you can tell:

high wool loops

I love this little rug ( approx.  9" x 14" at the moment)
….and think I'll add another border around her…
then add some fringe and make into a big heavy pillow!!
maybe the fringe should look like straw?
Hmmmm….again.

fat little hen nesting in a striped bowl

and here is the finish for the current
Little Stitches Handwork Club project
(April/May/June LSHC):

"Spools of my Thread"

a sweet little pocket project/kit to hold your old wooden spools ~

This kit will be shipping a little late (sorry ~ please forgive?)
...due to the preparations for the Rug Fest last week…
so watch for yours in your mailbox soon!

worked in blues and brown….
a quick and easy 'in-between' project for your hands and sewing basket

If you are not a member of the
Little Stitches Handwork Club
and would like to join,
you can email me at not4got@aol.com
and also click on the link up there on my sidebar under
'little stitches handwork club' for more details about joining.

Have a wonderfully creative Wednesday my Friends!!

* Blessed be *

What a darling pattern - the colors are just perfect in it too. I like your high hooking method - quite possibly if I tried that my work would look better. I will try it for sure.
Blessings,
Karen

Darling chicken rug!! I'm a high hooker, too!! Love that you hand cut ~ gives it a primitive look!

I am loving the new club project! I will be doing it right away for sure! I'm glad that you are a wee bit late as I am in the process of stitching the last kit and now I can finish it up before being tempted with the new one :)
Blessings, Patti

I so wanted to go to the VA Rugfest to meet all that i have been doing business with. Had my application printed out and everything. But I hadn't finished taxes yet so had to spend the weekend doing that instead. Wonderful finishes! I think this project has convinced me to join the handwork club!

I love your chicken , it does look like a country version of one of those glass hen dishes! I esp. love the colors and the stripes! And the high / low hooking!
