Some of you who have visited us here on the farm,
know that as you drive down to the shop ...there is a little old graveyard in the big field to your right.
but for the past couple of Saturdays'... Peter, and with the help of Sonny Goin (relative of this old homeplace's original owners)
they have really cleaned it up and are doing a great job ~
as the ground there is higher and needs reinforcement.... they will put in a new fence too, ...with posts hewn from Locust trees here on the property... and once the fence is in, then we will plant some flowers and bushes around the old graves... it is a beautiful little family plot (the Proffit family) and we are happy to help keep it neat & tidy ... across from the graveyard, in the woods, grow Lady Slippers, Snowdrops and other little woodland flowers... as soon as they poke their little faces out, I'll share them with you.... Today was spent stitching on a new little sampler, called 'Lovely May' and it will be a pinkeep finish... i'll share pics of that with you tomorrow~ Hoping you all have a quiet & restful Sunday evening!!
Blessings from the Farm... Lori p.s. my previous post has received SO many comments!!! thanks for your kind words, and invitiations to come & stitch with you all!!!!
I will let you know the goings-on very soon...promise!

How very nice of you to straighten up and look after this family's graveyard. I can't wait to see more pics.
Wonderful of you to take care of this family's plot -- I'm sure that it will become a peaceful resting spot once again for those departed souls.
It will be very pretty once the flowers bloom.
Looking forward to seeing your new pinkeep!
What a wonderful project!!! I can't wait to see it all done - the Proffit family would be so pleased.
Hi Lori, it's a sign of tremendous character to honor those gone before us, thx for sharing your touching post. Being a lover of stone walls, I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. NF Farms' rendition:)
I'm sure that little plot will soon be looking sweet and renewed.
See if you can find someone who does grave witching (similar to water witching) to be sure all the graves have been located.
Oh, Lori ~
I just LOVE old cemeteries!!! What a wonderful project.
Hugs :)

Caring for forgotten graveyards is a favorite project of mine. It is so rewarding to look after the last resting places of those who came before us and made the way a little easier for us here now!
I am sure the people in those graves are grateful to you and blessings will come from your kindness!

What a positively breathtaking place! Old gravestones and graveyards intrigue me - I can spend hours there. How lucky you are to have one right on your property! It's wonderful that it is being tended to....
That is so very sweet. What a wonderful thing to do for people who walked before us.
I am doing research for my university thesis, thanks for your great points, now I am acting on a sudden impulse.
