our little quilt class was today here in the shop~
Here's Felicia, talking about the 'proper' way of hand-quilting....
...she really likes to teach how she learned to quilt,
meaning,
meaning,
to measure, cut & stitch exactly,
so your little quilt doesn't end up all...
well....
"Wonky"...
so your little quilt doesn't end up all...
well....
"Wonky"...
She really does know her stuff, and I admire her
BUT
I am one that doesn't follow rules, persay...
BUT
I am one that doesn't follow rules, persay...
So, after Flea left,
I "UNtaught" the girls how to hand quilt...
I "UNtaught" the girls how to hand quilt...
I don't measure...
I NEVER cut straight.
...my little quilts look like they were made by a child....
I NEVER cut straight.
...my little quilts look like they were made by a child....
here's Robin's (above)
and Denise's (above)
...and Jane's (above)
...and Sue's (above)
and, Winnie's (above)...
each one of them perfect in their very own way...
I'm so proud of my students!
you may notice that each quilt may differ in size from student-to-student...
whether it is sewing, stitching, hooking, punching, dollmaking or painting...
the foundation of the class is laid out for you,
whether it is sewing, stitching, hooking, punching, dollmaking or painting...
the foundation of the class is laid out for you,
BUT
it is up to YOU to finish it the way you like...
each one a piece from your heart~
I love to see your finished projects!!!
Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

Looks like a fun class and day at the shop Lori! I'm afraid I'm like Felicia when it comes to the pieced quilts! Wish I could be more carefree like you with different things so they have that naive, child like look but I'm too rigid I guess! LOL
Thanks Lori for a fun filled day, and yes I did learn some also!! Do we get to have an advanced class??
Have a good evening and will talk to you later.xo (millstonemercantile)

Such beautiful quilts!!! Wonderful color schemes... and so fast!
I love your quilting philosophy--and I love wonky quilts. It's what makes them look handmade and charming. Embrace the "imperfect" and enjoy the process!
Looks like so much fun! I wish I lived near so I could take a class like this. I would be the one with the wonky quilt thought! LOL

What fun..I love everyone's designs and the shop looks wonderful :)
I too have much difficulty cutting a straight line..even with a cutting mat a ruler and a rotary cutter...I just can not manage it!
Wishing you a wonderful day, Doreen
Awesome place to sit and stitch and love how each lil' quilt turned out different!
