The Best Part About Owning A Dog...

... is the way he will come over to see me, for no reason,
just to let me know I'm important to him

... is the way he is always ready to lick the jelly off my nose...

... is the way he looks into my eyes and finds contentment in simply being near me

... is the way he will run all over the yard,
fetch a soggy tennis ball and bring it back to me as if to say
"look mom, it's all have, but it's yours"

... is the way he wakes me up in the morning
by pushing his cold wet nose in my ear and snuffing loudly

... is the way he shreds toilet paper all over the house,
because it's fun even though he knows he shouldn't

... is the way he's sure he can catch the ducks in thelake today...

... is the way he comes over to me when he is sad

... is the way he wedges himself near me when I am sad
and push all others away, to console me with his love

... is the way he pounces on crickets in the backyard

... is the way he looks perplexed when they escape

... is the way he is terrified of the evil pink hula hoop

... is the way he doesn't mind how much of that horrid perfume
I'm wearing just because it was a gift from my relative who's visiting

... is the way he doesn't care about bad hair days or overdue bills

... is the way he loves you, even when you are impatient with him
and have no time this morning for a gameof tug-a-war

... is the way his coat feels like liquid silk under my fingers

... is the way he finds wisdom beyond words

This is Lazy...
...showing me those beautiful brown eyes...
he is almost 7 years old and is a Black Lab/Beagle mix..
...we call him a "Bleagle"

and here is Buddy ~
... Lazy's nemesis and best friend all-in-one....
today was so pretty, I stitched outside on the porch swing, and these two stayed right by my side almost the entire day...
(well, except when Buddy thought he needed to go
down to the creek for a drink,
and needed Lazy to go with him...)
These two, sweet souls meet & greet everyone that comes to visit
Notforgotten Farm...
I'm blessed to be theirs.

Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

well I truely enjoy that unconditional love too, but when they comes with the muddy paws through the house to find me, I sometimes forget what it's all about but only for a second because they look up at me with those big brown eyes and say, "AWE MUFFIN" We have a Doberman and a Shepard and man are they lovable. Thanks for reminding me of their adorable antics.
Be always in stitches.

I totally agree. We have a little Doxy ( Gretta) and she has a little blue ball that she will chase and bark at for hours. Sometimes we just pick her up and take he directly to the tub to be washed. She gets filthy ! ! ! !, but boy do we LOVE her. Dirt and all. So much lovin'.

So sweet! My black lab Lucy is laying here beside me. That poem is right on, isn't it?! Lucy is always mopey when I'm preparing to leave and ALWAYS glad to see me when I return, no matter how long I'm gone!

They do consider us to be theirs and not the other way around. Of our 2 pyrs the oldest thought she should guard if anyone was close to us but otherwise she was to first to meet and greet - especially the pizza delivery girl!
She loved the crust! The younger pyr (1yr difference) was treated as her baby and couldn't go anywhere without the oldest beside her. We miss them both very much!

Happy Stitching! and playing w/ dogs!
