Spring in a Jar ~

Since it's too early to actually work in our gardens just yet, and I am itching to get some dirt under my fingernails...I needed a little dose of Spring...
SO
after organizing my wool worms into my collection of glass canisters or jars,
I had a couple left over and decided to do this:

tiny springs of green ~ housed in my glass jar

I remember making terrariums as a young girl...
also remember my mom keeping a couple of larger ones made from 'leaker' fish tanks...

beautiful, black Earth and finger-like roots...

These are once again becoming quite popular
and can bee seen in many home decorating magazines...
using everything glass ~ from jars like this, to broken lightbulbs and clear-glass ornaments!

but wait...who is that standing amongst the grennery in my little glassed garden?

an interloper in the vicinity?

a tiny helper perhaps?
... or a caretaker of the potted plant?

i s e e y o u .

oh, it's only Phineaus ~

...my miniscule friend...
wishing me a dose of Gnome-cheer !

hello Phineaus!
Now I'll have to visit our local Goodwill
for more glass containers to turn into small
vessel-gardens.

What's that you say Phinny?
yes, you can come along too...

Hoping you all have a green-thumb kind of day!

Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

SPRING(cleaning)TIME!!!!!

Happy Spring Everyone :)

I, for one, am SO happy that today marks what soon will be
the first of many warmer days...

we have been listening to the teeny green tree frogs here in the back of the farmhouse ~ they live near the creek and on the first warm day, they start their twitterpating & peeping.
it's a beautifully-deafening sound!

and, I have been cleaning out this old farmhouse ~
starting with my sewing room...

here's how my shelves look now:

neat & tidy

I decided to store the cut wools and their accompanying worms in my glass jars in front of their corresponding colors...
i really love how this looks, and the glass jars make it so easy to see the wool ~

nice & clean

of course, between cleaning ~
I take tea breaks and peruse my two favoprite magazines,
FOLK & MaryJanes Farm!!

staples in my reading pile ~

 after tidying up,
the sun was coming in so pretty this morning
that I had to take some snaps of where I spend alot of my time....

a cozy little creative-nook

I put the slipcover on my hooking chair
after it was freshly laundered and hung to dry in the bright sun...
...now the whole room smells like spring!

my chair awaits ~

cleaning out items that I no longer need, the room seems bigger to me....

not really big at all, Peter says it's about 12' x 17'

I am happy & content in this humble farmhouse...
now onto the other rooms!!
Happy Spring Cleaning to you all!!!!

Remember, you can stand an egg on it's end today because of the Earth's rotaional pull...
try it, it really works!

As Promised ~

Okeedokee....

so here is what the little hooked mat,
denim fabric and polkadot fabric turned into this afternoon...
a sweet messenger bag!

my old cage dress-form displays the new bag ~

I machine sewed the denim to the linen edges of the rug,
...then handstitched on the tortoise-shell rings for the strap...

love those polkadots!

...the strap is also made from the denim,
and I added a magnetic closure to the top/inside of the purse...

I can smell the lavender already ~ soon it will be here!!

and as an added touch,
I made sure the pocket of the old bluejeans were put to good use...
...now I won't lose my cellphone down the bottom of the bag!

nice touch!

Oh!
I just realized this little bag
is thee perfect size to carry my tablet in too!
ha!! ...electonics on the go!

old meets new = love!

I think I'll design a couple different versions of this style purse to hook...
and, perhaps I'll offer them as patterns for you all to make one for yourselves too ~

...any suggestions or comments?

~ have a beautiful evening ~

a new project ~

Howdy Friends & Folk!
well, it snowed last night, but nothing major...
...just enough to make it pretty, but now it's gone!

it is cold though, so I will be hunkered down today,
working on a new project which involves wool, denim and cotton fabrics...

a small hooked mat, an old pair of bluejeans and some fun polkadot fabric ~

any guesses on what the finished project might be?

lavender blooms from a little white urn on my hooked mat ~
...this small size hooks up quick!

I'll share pics of the finish later today...

in the meantime, I will also be working on your orders placed over the weekend for our new goods from our march update,....
I had to order extra tin sewing tray bases, and they should be in stock later this week.
I will ship them out for you as soon as I receive them :)

Enjoy your Monday my sweet Friends!!
