~ A different Kind of Playing Hooky ~

Hello!

…well I’m sharing my first ever finished granny stripe scarf, with the first scalloped border I’ve ever attempted!!! ~ I’m pretty happy with it!
(and of course I had to add a few crocheted flowers to the ends for whimsy) ~

I didn’t use a pattern per se, and just winged it mostly, but I’ve watched and thoroughly enjoyed learning from numerous tutorials from @meemamakes, @moorlandcottagecrochet & @beelori1 ~

((don’t look too close, there are definitely numerous dropped stitches, miscounts and my tension needs work - but I’m loving this new crochet adventure I’m on!))

I’m not sure what the yarn was that I used,
• but think it is a variegated Noro,
• the purple scalloped edging is I Love This Cotton in french lilac,
• and the flowers were worked using 2 strands of size 8 @valdani_threads perle cotton.

♥️thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement!

~ New Pattern Releases for 2026 and other NEWS ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
...and a very happy January Tuesday to us all!

I know I've already released them and shared on IG & FB
but I forgot to share them here on this neglected blog of mine.
*sigh*
better late than never ;)

so, kindly meet the Brown's ~ a Farmer & Wife who have spent their years loving
and learning from their land together...

These are the first  of my 'Littles Series' for the new year (2026)

and here is a sweet & small sampler-ish design that is called
"Little Farmhouse ~ SPRING"
which is the first of 4 seasonal stitches that have some old motifs borrowed from early samplers,
and a few stitching related motifs along with my own quirky style and colors.

to read more about them, kindly visit my Etsy shop
www.notforgottenfarm.etsy.com

IN OTHER NEWS:

the progress on our Shop & Studio is coming along!
...and I cannot wait to share the full reveal with you all :)

as you can see, Peter is putting in new flooring ~
it has a beautiful hickory colored grain and warms up the entire place so much!

there are more 'things' we're doing in there,
but I want to wait till everything is back in it's place before showing again.

We have moved furniture & fixtures around and around so much we're both dizzy!
I personally can't wait to open back up and see my friends & customers,
and have my tribe back with me again!

~ Happy creating everyone ~

~ photo drop ~

Hello Friends!

 Happy Autumn to us all!
it is not quite 8:00 pm here in Virginia,
but it is totally dark outside...

we went for a walk after our supper of chicken soup and rosemary toast...
still very warm here, but hoping that will change now that it is 'officially' fall?

found a few snaps in my camera roll to share...
these are sassafrass leaves up in our big field...along the edge actually.
I love their shapes and colors!

this guy, below....
we don't know where he came from
but he stays on the fringes of the field due to Grizzly
always chasing him.
I've named him Batman {lol}

a few weeks ago I visited Hannah & Marcus in Richmond,
and this beauty was living outside their front windows!
I know I know...but I find them fascinating and beautiful and worthy of life too...

...and speaking of Grizzly...
here he is in Peter's His recliner cuddling with the throw pillow.
the 80lb. baby.
{xoxoxox}

I'm wanting to get started on Christmas designs,
and am almost finished cross stitching models for a few more of my 'littles'
that I hope to release very soon.

I want to hook some chairpads too.
and do some primitive applique.
and work on my spun cotton things.
and crochet.
and and and...

~ SCAM ALERT!!!!

Well the world just gets uglier.
I was just notified by a customer/friend, that there is a website
www.lariveesewing.com that is offering kits AND patterns of my Little Nick & Cookie Klaus
without my permission or having notified me, contacted me or even purchased from me as a wholesale or retail customer. I went to this website and sure enough, there they were, with MO MENTION of myself being the actual designer....

there is even another product listed on there that employs customers to purchase a cross stitch design to 'help out a young family dealing with cancer'....with no mention of the actual pattern designer's name.
and there are patterns from other designers of needlework on this website as well...

I called the number listed in their 'contact' info, and it took me to a shop in the USA that said they are receiving numerous phone calls from others concerned by this,
and they told me their phone number was stolen and being used by someone internationally.
when you click on the websites 'customer care' link, it blathers on about refunds, tracking and shipping...highly suspicious!

*PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE!*
IT IS A FRAUDULENT SIGHT AND THEIR ADVERTISING FOR PRODUCTS IS A SCAM*

PLEASE pass this info along to your needleworker friends!

I truly thank everyone who is vigilant against crimes like this...
it hurts hard working, self employed, small business owners such as myself.

~ In the News.....

Good Sunday Morning Friends & Folk ~
hoping this post finds you all happy, healthy & enjoying these last days of summer...
the weather here has been so pretty, with lower temps & less humidity.
...our gardens are overflowing with herbs, veggies and weeds {of course}.

The haying of the big field has begun!
my nose is itchy, eyes are stinging, 'stuff' floating in the air ~
but the donkeys are happily singing!

෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴

I wanted to post a couple of things that are on the horizon, so to speak...
the first being a reminder for our upcoming
~ Fall Open House & Stitch In ~
on Saturday September 20th 2025 from 10-4:00

some folks have asked if this is an 'open' or 'drop in' stitch in...
...the answer is No.
and although the Shop will be open for your purchasing-pleasure,
this is a Pre-Registered Stitch-In event and registration is now CLOSED.

We have limited seating in our big, beautiful event tent,
so anyone NOT registered previously to stitch, simply won't have a seat.

---> If by chance you are registered but CANNOT come,
kindly contact me ASAP to let me know.
Also...if you are registered, and planning to spend the entire day with us,
PLEASE BRING A BAG LUNCH FOR YOURSELF.
{{{ we will have light refreshments for registered attendees. }}}

***This event is FREE to our registered Stitch In guests,
and of course, our friendly Shoppers.

Please Note....this is a FARM.
we live here, and it is a humble OLD homeplace,
which is continuously being worked on by my hard-working husband Peter...
you will witness everyday life here!!
...always something happening here besides our 'business'...
roof repairs, siding not quite finished, weeds, unruly fences...
maybe even clothes on the line!!

and
...a gentle reminder for folks who may have allergies,
we have chickens, donkeys, & dogs & cats,
and speaking of...
If you are visiting to shop, and have a dog with you ~
PLEASE KEEP THEM ON A LEASH at all times.
for their safety, and for the consideration of others
who may not share the same enthusiasm as we do for fur-friends ;)

---> *thank you*<---

෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴෴

and,

~ Hot as......HELLO!

 Hello Friends & Folk!
...and a happy hotter than HELLo,
sticky, muggy, & downright YUCK of a Monday early evening.

I'm not a fan of the heat of Summer.
give me a chilly October/November day any time!

well, at least I'm 'thinking' about those months while hooking a bit ~
I was cleaning up my sewing room {stash/hoard/collection/squirrel's nest}
and cam upon some wools that I guess I hid from myself?
(i don't remember them at all lol)
but
that's ok because I'm actually doing something with them...

I'm trying to give my eyes a break from cross stitch & embroidery,
but with hands that are never idle, I need something to work on ~
can you relate?

I figured, if I made a few small hook-lings,
that would be my respite from needle and thread for a little while
{that is until Winter/Christmas designs start creeping in my brain & workbasket}

being so blooming HOT, I hook on the porch of the studio ~
in the morning or later in the afternoon.

thankfully we have ceiling porch fans, so there is always a breeze at the flick of a switch
if Mother Nature does not provide.

a small pumpkin is finished, and I'm almost done with a little witch's hat.
...perhaps I'll do a crescent moon, a black cat, another pumpkin or three...
who knows?

although it is sticky out there,
I'm actually not minding working with my newly-found, not quite lost &
forgotten about 'hidden' wools.
just hooking the thought of Autumn tricks me into thinking
that it's cooler than it is ~ ha!

I don't know where I got this frame from,
but have had it for a few years...I believe it is an Appleton? but the label is missing.
I usually work on my Hook'n Punch Frame
{the ones that Peter makes and we sell in our Etsy shop)
but this one was close at hand so I'm using it.
It is a bit 'high' for me, though -
meaning it sits tall in my lap and makes my shoulders ache a bit.
oh well, make do for the moment, right?

I'm using my Miller hooks for these smaller cut projects.
{a size 7 cut is my favorite cut to hook in}
as you can see, the wear on the hook to the far right shows my go-to hook)

Peter drilled a hole in the handle for me
so I can thread a waxed cord through it and wear it around my neck...
I have a tendency to put hooks in my pockets and then try to sit down.
I wouldn't recommend that.
:)

 Well that's it for now...
I'll be back when I have a few more of these finished!

Keep Cool and Keep Creating!

~ Photo Drop ~

 Well April is a memory....
where does the time go anymore?

I wake up at 6:30 every morning and hit the floor running.
I do accomplish A LOT during each day, but I'll turn around and it will be 4:30 in the afternoon!
what's happening? trying to be more 'present' and in-the-moment, but whooooosh!
there goes another day ~

oh well, such is life I guess....at least life in my 60's.
time went by slower when I was a child ~ I'm sure many of you can relate.

so, all I have today for you are some photo's from my phone.
just life in general, nothing fancy, but our little daily life:

fat little squirrel

farmhouse roof getting sanded and repainted by Peter

who is that masked man? it's Roof Man!

Lady {Ladybug} our freckled grand-dog girl

wild poppies that Peter transplanted for me

rest in peace sweet, dear willie nelson.

"I'll try to be better at posting."
(she says under her breath, every single time she remembers to post.)

 Good Morning Friends & Folk!
...and a very happy chilly sunny kinda-windy March Thursday to us all!
