Good Morning Friends & Folk!
...and a very happy, sunshine-y morning to us all...
Peter and I went for our usual morning walk after a simple breakfast of loaded oatmeal.
what do I mean by loaded?
well...
we add:
blueberries, bananas, autumn berries {see more about them below}
walnuts, pecans, cinnamon, ginger and occasionally a few dark chocolate chips

just for fun!
topped off with 100% pure and organic maple syrup and almond milk.
super yummy for the tummy!
here are a few photos of what we saw on our walk...
Redbud, which we will make into tea ~
Red Maple ~
so, Peter has been looking in to tapping some of these next year!
Looking forward to that :)
And this is Autumn Olive...
{also called Autumn Berries or Silverberries}
right now, these are the blossoms being visited by our honey bees...
~ they are known as a 'superfood' for their ability to produce up to 80lbs of berries per bush in one year!
the berries are high in vitamin C, antioxidants...and have 17x the amount of lycopene than a ripe tomato. and are wonderful for making jams, jellies & ketchup too!

here is my progress on making small granny squares!
I'm using DMC Pearl Cotton size #3 with a )) size steel hook...
and I HATE winding the cotton into balls!
{just sayin'}
...here are 9 squares, each square is approx. 3 x 3 inches.
I have no idea what I will make with them, other than a runner for my sewing room perhaps?
we shall see LOL.
Oh! I've also been playing with a combination of needlefelting and embroidery...
as you can see in my attempt below:
I like it, but it's not the best...going to have to practice abit lot more

Which type of oatmeal to you eat? I normally cook the Steel Cut oatmeal but not the instant. Sometimes I eat the old fashioned.
I have a granny square afghan I made years ago but it needs repair so don't use it. Perhaps I need to retrieve it and make some repairs.
Pretty post with your flowers & plants .
You are having fun making pretty Granny Squares and now needle felting !!!! I wish I had your energy !!! I have never been a fan for oatmeal , but maybe I should try it again with all the goodies you add to it !!!
Spring certainly is showing her lovely face at the farm. Here we are still snow covered....temps in the single digits again tonight. I never heard of the autumn berries. I'll have to look into them - I'm guessing they are not compatible with our growing zone. I like the marriage of felting and embroidery. ~Robin~
Enjoyed the pictures of your walk with Peter, Lori! Your granny squares are looking fabulous. A table runner for your sewing room sounds lovely. Is DMC perle #3 the equivalent of 6-stranded DMC embroidery floss? Enjoy your Thursday!
Wow, Lori! I had no idea you were such a good girl! You could write your own Never Forgotten Recipe Book! Have a beautiful last day of March!
isn't this pretty thread. I love crocheting with thread. The squares are lovely.
