Oh my...
well,
at least I'm putting my 'recovery' time to good use ~
For my readers here that aren't on Facebook or Instagram,
this is what I've been doing:
~ Needlefelting ~
{{ ok, I'm needlefelting + applique with a sprinkling of embroidery }}
a few years ago, I spun some of our Finn ewe 'Esther''s fleece {aka Mommy}
she has a beautiful loose staple that is great for spinning.
but, I am not a great spinner!
as you can see below, my skeins are a mess ~
too tight, too loose, knots, slubs and pieces of hay
all make up a hank of my 'yarn'...
lol
but it's pretty
and I never thought I would be able to do anything with it.
Until Now.
it is perfect for creating my 2-dimensional {2D} sheep!
each wonky curl and loop of the yarn
just seems to add more of a realist effect to my needle felted sheep's coat...
~ don't you agree?
especially this little guy,
below...
I'm embellishing with applique, embroidery and each lamb or sheep
has hand blown German glass eyes.
they aren't perfect, but I am improving each time.
the most important part of this is enjoying the creative & learning process as I continue.
I hope you all have a wonderfully creative October Day ~
full of inspiration, peace & kindness.
Blessings from the Farm
~
Lori

OK, needle felting is a skill you haven't taught me, yet. Love these little sheep!

Your artistry never ceases to amaze me, Lori...but what really struck me with these new pieces is their faces. So very very sweet...
As for your spinning, be glad of your results...after spinning a long time, it's hard to return to the primitive, slubby, chunky stuff, believe me!
Love what you're creating...
these are divine Lori...exactly the way they are...so glad you are resting your foot...let it heal! hugs and woolly thoughts...
Beautiful, Lori! Your "imperfections" are perfect to me!! Great idea...love your wool! Hope your poor foot heals quickly!!
Love your little Lambs !!! Their pretty glass eyes & every nub, lump & bump looks wonderful !!! Even your basket of yarn looks beautiful !!!! They are so cute !!!!
Lori, they are just so sweet!
Those are the cutest sheep. I want to hug them all.
Wool spun from your own sheep..beautiful
There are no words to express how envious I am of the person (s) who will get to own these. I love what comes from that creative mind of yours. I wish I could get to all these events that you sell at. I love the items I purchased at the Hearts and Hands show.
The sheep are absolutely wonderful! You are so creative and inspiring!
Your creativity is simply amazing. Love these looks.
so stinkin' cute!
Love your new creations!!!! And it looks like you have a talent for spinning designer yarns! At least that's what I called my attempts at spinning. Full of slubs and other neat things! :-)
The detail is just amazing. Beautiful.
I love using wool yarns in felting, can be fun for texture and variation.
You did a beautiful job with incorporating felting with wool appliqué, love it!
