~ Rainy Day ~

 Hello Friends & Folk!
...a rainy afternoon here on the farm today ~
my very favorite kind of day.

The temps outside are warmer than usual today,
but I have the woodstove going to keep the dampness out of this old farmhouse.
~ our Christmas tree is lit with the soft glow of little white lights...
I have yet to add one ornament to it, preferring instead, to enjoy it in it's more-simple state.

I will not go overboard this year for my decorating.
In fact ~ as I get older, I find myself wanting/needing less -
the more 'stuff' I have around me only makes my brain more 'busy'
{{ and good lordy it doesn't need any help. }}

I'll be purging everything I own in the next coming weeks.
~ from clothing to books,
crafting supplies to collectibles & antiques
... that just no longer suit my need for a simpler way of living.

I'll donate first, then give to friends/family....if they want anything!
I think I'll list the antiques/collectible things here on my blog for those that may want them.
so stay tuned, you never know what may show up!

So I have been hooking.
alot.
like, it's the only thing I want to do lately ~
yes, punching & stitching are good too,
but there is something about pulling those loops through linen
that grabs me and soothes me and keeps me focused.
{well not really 'focused' ~ I'm usually daydreaming about a future design while hooking one!}
... in between readying the shop for this coming weekend,
I making time to hook everyday.

I finished the mat I've been working on,
a little Moravian star ~

and of course simply finished it
with a sewn-on label...

~  I have two more small hooked projects
that are waiting to be whipped/finished too:
a snowman & a small house.

... yep,
there are my wonky loops...
high/low
here/there
fat & skinny

kinda like me.
♥

hello.

Hoping you all are enjoying a peaceful day
~ filled with simple-things you love!

Blessings from the Farm ~
 Lori

That easing up on Christmas decorating must come with age...(did I say that?). I, too, am preferring the "less is more" style. I haven't picked up the hook over the punch needle yet, however, though I do find it good for the hands to switch it up a bit from time to time...that repetitive use thing is a buggar! Lovely projects as usual!

Love your hooked items , they are wonderful . I have sorted thru my Christmas decorations too and passed them along to my daughter and daughter-in-law. It will be fun to see their home decorated with them now . Best wishes for a very successful show this Saturday .

I wish I could simplify, but still can't...sigh.

Hi Lori,
They look great. I want to learn how some day soon. I love wool and have a lot of it...

Actually, I like your loops -- I am trying to make mine more like them. I like old looking and think the variety adds to the older look. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, Lori…you are transitioning…and that is life! We go through so many years of accumulating, building…and then, we have all we need and more. And it's time to pull back, take stock of what really counts, and let the rest go. Good for you!!!! Wishing you joy...

I am inspired to hook once again after reading your post. My own purge in on-going, since I also feel the need to simplify. The problem is this: I just love to do everything! My holiday decorating is also becoming more spare, with more botanicals, and fewer objects. As always, Lori, I look forward to reading about life at Notforgotten Farm!
