~ I'm Hopping ~

Good Morning Friends & Folk ~

… today is day #6 of Buttermilk Basin's Summer Blog Hop!
~ my day to hop!!

I've always loved to garden…
I can remember my mom having a large garden when I was little and
even when Peter & I were newlyweds we kept a small kitchen garden when living in the suburbs ~
there is nothing like freshly picked veggies to add to your Summertime meals!

How many of you keep a garden?

I've hooked up this sweet little
Summer Turnip Pincushion
for you as my 'hop' freebie and I hope you enjoy

click on the WHITE pattern template below to enlarge,
save it to your computer, then print it out and get to work ~
{{ you can use the suggested wool colors I used in the color photo above for inspiration}}
I would LOVE to see your finish of this fun little summertime project
so send me a photo to

 here is a farm-fresh recipe for you…
I love the little 'zing' my ingredients add to the summertime classic potato salad ~
I like to use our freshly dug 'new' potatoes for ours, but if you don't grow your own potatoes
please visit your local Farmer's Market and get some :)

~ Notforgotten Farm's Pickled Potato Salad ~

I hope you've enjoyed my day on the Buttermilk Basin's Summertime Blog Hop

Good Morning Lori,
Is it a coincidence that your Blog-Hop day fell on the 13th?! ;-)
The recipe sounds delicious. I'm looking forward to making it this weekend.
Cute little turnip design too. Thank you! Enjoy the day.
Best wishes. ~C

Yes, I garden! We currently live in Greenville, NC but we have remodeled my husband's farmhouse where he grew up in Washington, NC (30 minutes from Greenville.) Unfortunately, we have had so many large rain storms the last three springs that our garden keeps drowning. We often replant, then replant again and it starts raining. However, we have started a little kitchen garden next to the house with herbs. Also, we use pots for several veggies (of course, the birds love to build nests in our tomatoes!!!)

Fortunately, we canned so many veggies last year, we are ok. Another silver lining - since I am not having to weed, pick, can, etc - I have more time to create!

i have been canning from ours and we have never had so many tomato's . we are having to water because we can't seem to get any rain.

We are doing tomatoes, peppers, and the grandkids wanted pumpkins. Everything is "fenced in" against deer. I predict we will be mainly gardening at the "farmer's market."

Thank you for the cute little turnip. It would also make a nice little bowl filler pillow. I have always wanted to try rug hooking.
