Finished!
this is "Quick as a Bunny" ~ all done…
and I love him.
hooked with cotton fabrics, hand dyed velvet, handspun sheep's wool
and as-is & hand dyed wools on a linen backing.
measures approx. 14" x 16"
not huge, but not teeny.
you can see that red cotton fabric 'beauty-line' really well in the snap below:
and you can see where I took a little walnut stain and went around the red hooked line to make it look as though it is dirty from use or age…
I used a green seam binding {rayon} ribbon for the carrot top ~
I like the 3D effect it lends :)
chubby little guy, isn't he?
then…added my label on the back
{pinking shears used to cut the label from stained weavers cloth, then whip stitched on}
because the red cotton fabric is a lighter weight than the wool,
and because I hooked it up 'through the ditch' {meaning: between two existing rows}
my red loops seem to disappear into the rug…I LOVE that.
that really helps my finished project look aged ~ don't you agree??
I didn't continue my red beauty line around his tail though,
I left it alone, instead
since it is hooked with my handspun sheep's wool and is higher than the rest of the loops.
so there ya go!
all done.
'Quick as a Bunny' will be available in pattern form soon :)

he's wonderful!
Oh, the Finished Bunny! He's so wonderful! I like the techniques of embedded cotton and walnut stain to give it an aged look. I learn so much here…and I've been meaning to say I think the little carrot adds a lot! Looking forward to seeing your new classroom, Lori. One day I hope to be there in person!
Can't wait for the pattern!
Best,
jenny
Love the outline. You are so good with backgrounds. There's movement. This bunny is a hopping down the bunny trail with that background! Pattern? Krissy B.
I love your rug! The beauty line ages him nicely. You have inspired me to hook on a rug that Randy drew a bunny for me to use, after my many failed attempts! Just need to get him onto the linen!??? The linen is tan and he's drawn on reg paper...don't know if i'll see it through the lightbox...Ugh!
Hi Lori,
Your finished "Quick as a Bunny" is as cute as can be!!! I love how you used the beauty line and the carrot's "tail" adds so much!
I also love your little patch on the back and that reminded me that I need to make some for my 3 rugs I have hooked!! Thanks, as always, for the inspiration!! I hope you "score" at the auction tonight as well!!!!
Enjoy your day and can't wait to see your new classroom!!
Warm Hugs~
Julie
Love him! Do you hook on linen or monks? I'm not a hooker, but I'd love to learn. ~Jeanne~
I love this jumpin bun!! Love your use of color especially the red outline. Your a master- enjoy the day
Good morning, Lori. Mr. Bunny is so very handsome!! Your different techniques look wonderful. I don't hook, but maybe in punchneedle? I hope you have an amazing day!
