I have been MIA for the past few days ~
suffering once again from a BAD flare-up of
Diverticulitis.
ugh. even saying the word hurts…
I've been careful with my diet ~ excluding nuts & seeds
but still trying to figure out what foods are harder to digest than others.
My mom has this disease,
...and so did her brother and grandmother.
I am on Cipro & Flagyl
and I am taking probiotics to help combat the ill-effects of antibiotics.
I've heard from so many of you who suffer from this
and I thank you all for thinking of me & for offering your experience and advice ~
Since I've been {mostly} horizontal since last Saturday night,
and in between spasmatic-bouts of pain ~
I have been punching...
my Valdani threads, my ball jar, magnetic needle-minder and threader…. |
….working away on Hallowe'en designs of course.
using my Cameo needle, on my Hookinpunch© frame with protective cover. |
~ a little green witch comes to life loop-by-loop ~
{{ still have to add her glass eyes so she can 'see' }}
front of finished piece…love those tiny loops |
after the punching is completed,
~ I stain the edges with walnut dye.
just a little bit of stain…. |
Today I'll be punching her companion,
and will hope to share their finish with you
…. or at least a preview of them
~ in tomorrows posting.
)))))))))))))))))))O((((((((((((((((((((
With all of this 'stuff' going on in my stomach,
and having the pain as I do ~ it's hard for me to stay in one position long…
~ that means I am sitting, then laying down, then walking, then stretching
to the best of my abilities.
so, to distract my brain a bit from the pain & side effects of the meds,
I walk outside around the farm
for sunshine & fresh air with camera in hand…
{{{you know, that "2 birds/one stone" thing!}}}
so here are a few pretty snaps for you:
blooming hosta |
tiny gelatinous toadstools |
snail shell |
best friends |
view from my porch swing |
hedgerow of sweet annie in front of the farmhouse |
As soon as I am up to par, I will begin shipping kits to members of our
Little Stitches Handwork Club
Please pardon my interruption of the shipping schedule…
thankfully I am on the mend!

Prayers of health and happiness for you. So happy to read your taking Probiotics as they truly make all the difference in recovery.
I'm so sorry to hear you've been suffering again Lori. I hope you are right as rain soon. You take the prettiest pictures around your farm. I always enjoy them. Take care of yourself. Healing hugs, Lori
I always traveled with Leviquin(sp)just in case. Two years ago I had the surgery by robot. Piece of cake really. Flagyl is a killer so glad you are blasting your body with Probiotics. Get well soon and take care.
Hope you're feeling better soon....my husband suffered from that 2 years ago and it was very painful. Love the new designs...what is that around your cameo punch needle? Does that help with hand fatigue? Take care ~
Healing thoughts and warm hugs (very gentle ones) coming your way, Lori! Thank you for taking the time to share with us in the midst of things. ❤️
Gelatinous toadstools - How cool. I've never seen them before, never even heard of them. Your porch swing view looks so peaceful; what a spot. How do you get hosta blooms with your deer? I have hostas, as it turns out, just to feed the deer; I really like the deer I see in my yard, so no real complaint there, but I can't even keep the beautiful leaves, let alone ever achieve flowers. My hostas look more like very short celery stalks. ...jan
I was hoping you were better by now. Nothing like a tummy disorder to ruin your day. I have IBS (not as bad as diverticulitus), but not any fun either. Probiotics are the only thing that has helped me. All medications have terrible side effects. A life long problem it seems. So hope you are better soon. Hugs, Sandra
I hope you feel better soon! I didn't know that I have diverticulitis until I wound up in the emergency room with burst bowels back in 2007. Luckily they were able to remove the diseased section - about 10 to 12 inches. By the grace of God, I haven't had any problems since.
"Get Well Wishes!" ...We all hope you are feeling better soon!!
A walk around the farm is the best medicine! Take care.~C
Magnetic needle minder for that darn needle threader....great idea.....hope you start to feel yourself on the mend soon Lori...Rae
