*YAWN*
springing ahead today ~
...hate losing that hour in the morning!
but it means it will be lighter later this evening :)
and for that I say.....YAY!
<~~~~~~~~~~>::<~~~~~~~~~>
and guess what I did?
I FINISHED it!!!!
ten-thousand stitches later....
{ok, maybe not that many ~ but out seemed like it!}
i finished my little
{but bigger than I initially thought it would be}
~ Pentagonal Sewing Box ~
whatever possessed me to make this I still don't know ~
other than it is sew pretty {pun intended}, practical & was really fun to stitch
although I complain about everything anyway ;)
and because I saw how pretty Susie's was and just had to give in to my creative muse...
cotton fabrics in browns, creams, beige, white ~ florals, tiny prints, bees & birds too! |
I lined the inside with old white wool,
well ~ except for the inside of the lid...
for that I used a pale hand dyed red scrap of wool.
I tied a strawberry emory to the front with crinkle-ribbon
to act as an anchor for the ribbon tie...
~ which wraps neatly around a large mother of pearl button
that I stitched to the lid.
I had so much fun making this ~
I plan to use it to hold my rug hooks, as it is the perfect size...
or buttons. yeah, maybe a whole slew of white buttons!
oh!
it can hold thread spools!....
~ well i can think of many uses
ha!
try your hand at making one ~

Although I like mine, too, I'm so envious of your perfectly, prim style. It is just fabulous and I just love those fabrics.
Your neat little box is so cute ! I didn't know it opened , so pretty with the strawberry & old button to keep it closed ! The weather will be much nicer when you come to New England, no more freezing temps & the snow is melting slowly ! Have a fun trip !!! And Happy Belated Birthday !
Lori: I like this box very sweet.

Hi Lori!
I just love the prim little Pentagon box! It reminds me of the boxes my Mom used to make from Christmas cards...hers were hole punched around the edges and crocheted together. I will have to try to make one of these. :-)
Enjoy your trip!
Wondering where the buttermilk shop hop went today?

Hi Lori, your sewing box is adorable! I love your fabric choices, the different colour you used inside the lid, but mostly I like how you dangled the strawberry emery and looped the ribbon UP to the button. That was very clever. Thanks so much for posting the link and photos of my tutorial. I really appreicate that. Now back to my cutting table. I've had many orders this week thanks to you! I'm very grateful. If anyone would like a pdf of my tutorial, leave a comment on the tutorial post on my blog.
