Remembering...

...I forgot to show you my new jelly cupboard!!

Peter & I
and my sister & brother in law, Louisea & Tom
went to the auction last friday night ~

I saw this beauty and had to have it!!

ca. 1800's ~ all hand-pegged

it is massive ~ yet elegant…
and now holds all of my dinnerware & silver ~

there are carved roman numerals on the bottoms of the drawers,
which thrills my woodworking hubby to pieces :)
I love the color and lines of this piece ~

the top 'rail' was an addition, most likely on the early 1900's...

I'm still punching away on finished goods for the upcoming
From our Hands show…
here are some ornaments-in-progress:

hands, cats, hex signs, houses & tulips….
Iggy loves when I'm sitting in my chair and working on something.
...he is usually sleeping with one eye open across from me, in Peter's chair ~

but he also can't let me walk around the house alone…
if I get up to get a drink or stretch a bit, he is right there ~
he's my furry shadow.

hello Mr. Ig

cannot believe it is thursday (again) ~
...today also marks the 5 year anniversary of my sister Jo-ene's passing.

time flies.
love one another best you can.
try to speak more kindly.
laugh as much as you can.
just be nice.
think positive thoughts.
choose to be HAPPY….

* Blessed be *
 Lori

I think I am falling in love with Iggy, he is so very dignified. My Dora shadow cat is also never farther than a few feet away from me.

The cupboard is wonderful and looks great in your home! We never get over missing our loved ones but after time goes by we only remember only the good times. Wise words - choose to be happy.

I love the old cupboard, it's so special. Iggy reminds me of my O'Brien so much, he's always with me as I move through the house. Wishing you sweet memories today of Jo-ene. :-)

Lori, I love the cabinet. I am so happy that you found such a useful piece. This is a bittersweet time for me also. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday to decorate for. Three years ago my mother passed away at 12:30 a.m. on October 31. I just can't let her passing dissolve my love of Halloween. I enjoy many of my decorations that she had given me through the years and I know that is what she would want me to do. Im sure you miss your sister as I do my mom.

That is absolutely beautiful. What are the Roman Numerals? The real question is what is the date:) It's and incredible find.
Happy Stitching.

I've just discovered your blog and have to say it is beautiful. So many lovely pictures and design ideas. Also I have to say that Mr. Ig is perhaps one of the handsomest cats that I've ever seen!

Oh what a nice piece! I would have had to have had it too! Fits in like it was made for the room it's in. LOVE your kitty, beautiful - as is the rug he's sitting on. I think he knows he's pretty special! >^,,^<

I'm sorry for your loss, to lose a sibling must be hard. It was the 4th anniversary of my Mom's passing on the 30th and the 4th anniversary of my best friend Christine's passing on the 31st. It was Christine who got me into cross-stitch and folk art. I miss them both so much and I think of them everyday as you must do your sister.
On a brighter note, love your new cupboard and Mr Ig is as gorgeous as ever.
