a little progress.....

I've gotten some stitches done ~

finished the little cauldron on my challenge piece....

I am loving taking my time with this,
although I want it to be finished so I can see how it turns out!!

.... now onto the stems, leaves and flowers.
the thread colors really are perfect for my hand dyed linen ~
SO old looking already.

as you can see,
I hemmed-back the edges with a simple stitch...
I love the way that adds age to my work.
I may choose to just pin this finished sampler to a wall or cupboard.
we'll see.....

I'll be in the shop today,
working on clearing out books that have amassed in my office.
I have SO many books on SO many subjects...
I'll be putting some in my etsy shop,
others will be available in the shop here
and yet others will be brought into the farmhouse to
be placed in already-bulging bookshelves and cupboards!

I consider books (and magazines) a great investment
and tools for my work...considerable & constant sources
of inspiration for me...

I know I'm not alone out there!!!

Today it is rainy & overcast...the leaves on our many
Black Walnut Trees
have started to yellow & have
begun their spiral dances to the ground...
their branches already laden with plump round chartreuse-colored nuts....
there is a definite touch of Autumn in the air today!!!!

wishing you all a beautiful weekend ~

Blessings from the Farm...

Hi Lori. Can you tell me what you did to age your linen? I have only dipped one piece in coffee before. I really like the way your linen turned out. Have you found that different linens age better than others? Thanks.

Love that mental picture you gave me of the black walnut leaves spiral dancing toward the earth. Makes me wish I could walk across the fields behind the farmhouse! Jo
