yesterday was a road-trip day for me, Flea & Joan ~
we arrived at the shop
(after arguing with the little on-board "GPS Lady")
((OUR directions were much better))
to find a beautiful shop chock full of stitching needfuls!!
a forest of rounders, full of charts awaited us...
(and see? even the Men Folk love the shop,
He was in to purchase more beautiful wool
for his Needlepoint projects!!!
Real Men STITCH Too!!!)
on display was a LOVELY trunk show of the very talented Sandra's models
...Homespun Elegance
designs are so beautiful!!!!!
walls & cabinets held miles & miles of scrumptious threads from
Crescent Colours, Gentle Art & Weeks Dye Works...
our destination was to Alexandria, VA to a shop called
In Stitches
after a wonderful IHOP breakfast of crepes, eggs, bacon & sausage,
...courtesy of Miss Joan
(Thanks again sweet friend!)

we headed out.....
...it was a L O N G ride,
with me driving, Joan riding shotgun
& Miss Flea in the backseat doing what she does best,
stitching, reading the map &.....napping.

and I was actually dizzy trying to decide which linen I loved best ~
this WALL of linen made my head spin!
(I'm suprised I wasn't thrown out for fondling it all)

our ride home seemed to last forever,
but it's always a delight to be in the company of good friends ~
we got a little "punchy" on our trip back home though,
and that's when the laughter really starts...

I cherish moments made special by silly giggling girlfriends and non-sensical gibberish...
somehow good friends can always understand each other!

Thanks for the tour of In Stitches! I haven't made it up there yet for a visit...but I did discover Cross Stitch Station in Waynesboro just this week! You and your friends need to plan a trip there sometime!
Oh my...fabrics, flosses, and everything wonderful...treasures and temptations at every turn! Quite like a visit to the corner candy shoppe when I was a wee lass. I am delighted that you enjoyed a such lovely journey with friends...a perfect outing for a summertime day surely!
Sounds like it was a lovely trip!

Yum! That looks like a fantastic shop! That could be very dangerous if I lived close to it! Thanks for the tour. Could you please post the address, just in case any of us are in the neighborhood. I wouldn't want to miss such a great shop.
Thanks,
Wanda

What a great shop Lori! There's nothing better than a road trip with friends. Love what you purchased. I'm afraid I'd have to run my hand over all that linen too! lol Thanks for sharing.
Glorious post today Lori...a wonderful shop to visit, and good friends to make the trip with you...it doesn't get much better, does it? Tina
Lori, sorry I had to run out on you yesterday. I am glad you had a good visit and thank you SO MUCH for all the kind words and pictures.......see you again soon.

What a wonderful shop!! Someday when I own my own store I will carry all the wonderful supplies like this for needlework. My uncle used to do needle point, some men do stitch...although the men in my household would never give up the game controller of football in their hands for thread & needle!! ~Kriss~
Ooo...sounds like you had an awesome day! It's overwhelming to visit a shop as such! I'm the same way when I find a needleworks or quilt shop!
Sounds like you had a wonderful day!!
A couple of years ago I made it to In Stitches after having taught for the Loudoun County Sampler Guild. My what a nice shop with lots and lots of wonderful treasures. Thanks for helping me to relive my trip.
I went in April this year on our trip and it is a truely beautiful shop. I could look in there for hours.
