Somebody stop me....

Hi.
My name is Lori.
I'm a Scissors Addict.
I know I'm not alone...
I know you're out there too.
You know who you are...
the one who carries at least 6 different pairs in your workbasket.
the one who misplaces them, then comes across the ones that you weren't even looking for,
...only to find a pair that you safely tucked away...
oh...you thought you were special?
well pardon me.
You are in great company my friend....

these are just my 'little' scissors...
you know, the ones that I keep handy for clipping threads from my samplers...
but then~
I have a dozen or so pairs of Fiskars & Ginghers;
I have Antique scissors, Folding scissors and huge Dressmaking shears...
I collect Pinking Shears, Deckle-Edged scissors and Safety Scissors...
Safety Scissors?
yepper...
I have a 'thing' for them too.
Why?
because when I was little,
my sweet Mom bought me a pair of purple saftey-scissors
(you know the ones with no points, so I wouldn't do any harm?...uh...yeah...)
I thought they were great...so I cut everything with them...
including my own hair
(ended up with a haircut known as a "Pixie" for lack of a better term I guess,
but it was a boy's haircut for sure...)
did I mention that at the time my hair was waist-length?
uh-huh...
and that wasn't all...
I corralled my poor cat "Sampson" and cut his whiskers off to the quick.
(please, no throwing rotten tomatoes or calling PETA)
the poor thing walked around backwards for weeks.
no joke...
(although I can chuckle at it now & the whiskers, as well as my hair, did grow back)
so maybe I collect scissors because i don't want anyone else to get addicted...

yeah...that's it....
I will keep you all from cutting off your hair, your barbie-dolls' hair
...even your poor pets whiskers...
by collecting scissors!!!

...that's my story & I'm stickin' to it!!!
LOL

Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

Oh I laughed big time on this one...you forgot one of them with losing them..My kids were always taking them to wrap presents for friends..I would have to stop all three and tell them to hand them over..I have some for downstairs, some for my kitchen, some at that computer desk and none where they belong and that would be in my sewing room because that is the first place everyone grabs from....I have inherited shears from my mom and mother in law..I am joining you as a scissors addict...Lisa

Oh, Lori........what a fun post today.
You brought back a lot of funny memories. My middle daughter did the same thing........she decided she didn't like her curly bangs so she got rid of them. and this was just before Kindergarten school pics!
Have a good week.

HA!HA! Sooooo funny!!! My addiction started a year ago, but I'm particular in the ones I purchase..I have the witch scissors along with the owl, little black ones called putfords,etc...They have to have an antique or whimsical theme to them...So, YES, I'm a scissors addict along with my other addictions~~x-stitch patterns, reproduction fabric,etc..So I think if we're to have an addiction then these are the BEST to have!!!~~hugs,Jen

Scissors...ah yes...funny word for such a useful tool. How many you ask??? Nahhhhh..not going to admit to anything!!!
Wonderful post - made me smile from ear to ear....AND yes - the hair was cut (by a friend) from below the shoulders to a boys cut...when my Mom saw it she cried - I felt so horrid... she then took me to the "barber" not knowing what else to do - and I got what they called then a "shag"...just like your pixie! It has been short ever since! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane...but still not going to admit to the amount of scissors!!

Your little scissors are so beautiful! I would want to have them on display at all times!!
A few years ago, I bought a wholesale lot of utility scissors on e-bay, and that almost works. They are medium sized with blue handles, but can I ever find one when I need one? They disappear, just like socks.

I love sissors too... and am always surprised to find a pair I'd mislaid. It's like a little gift.

And yes . . . I'm an addict too! :-)
