here's PROOF:
here's PROOF:
SEE????
and it feeeeels GOOD! LOL :)

I started this rug a while ago...it's one of those
'UFO's'
[ Un Finished Objects]
that we all seem to collect...
This one is about 32w x 17h
hand drawn by me on linen, my own wonky design...

........two crows, an upside-down basket,
two stars, a couple of half-round flags, and a heart with a key in it.

the unfinished top and bottom borders have the words:
(top) "Plain & Simple"
(bottom) "Prim & Proper"
the words will be hooked in brown on a mustard tweed background,
so they will blend nicely with the muted colors of the rug...
I didn't want to have the wording overpower the motifs,
as the motifs are so askewed and busy themselves...
I'm using mostly scrap wools from my bottom-less scrap basket,
so it will truly be a OOAK when I'm finished....
I'm enjoying the process of pulling those soft strips of wool through a coarse backing.
sitting quietly with the fire in the woodstove, a pot of homemade-something brewing on top.
even the cat is happy I'm hooking again ~
she's gotten herself all snugged in my wool basket!!
Where is your favorite place to hook?
Do you have a specific room devoted to hooking?
I would love to see pictures of your wool/hooking rooms...

LOVE that rug! And the words in the border will be the perfect finishing touch! I hook up in my studio, mostly so the wool lint mess is contained to one area. I'd like to send you pictures, but it's such a terrible mess that I don't dare! LOL
ReplyDeleteWe wuvs wonky!!! LOL! That's some good lookin' hookin' you have goin' on there!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are enjoying hooking again Lori - it's certainly the time of the year (even in Florida) to get busy hooking. I do have a "wool room" at my house - my frame stays up all the time with a large rug on it and a basket with wool strips cut and ready to pull a few loops. All I need is your wood stove and I'd be set ! I have some photos on my blog of your Peace and Plenty I started at a Halloween rug workshop - take a look sometime! Melody
ReplyDeleteYay Lori! I'm glad you are hooking again. Love your rug!
ReplyDeleteGotta love those UFO's! I tried hookin' but just didn't take to it...I came across the ufo of my attempt at it...I would like to finish it one of these days. I don't have a hookin' room or chair...just my sewing room and my living room chair! I esp enjoy it this time of year...fireplace lit...curled up in my chair...good Christmas movie...and my stitchin' or punchin'!
ReplyDeleteI like your rug...thanks for sharing your "wonky" design!!
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteI've never tried hooking but always wanted to (rugs that is LOL)
I love the colors and textures of hooked rugs. I'm working on a crewel embroidery pillow right now between trying to paint the keeping room, work and decorate for Christmas. I may finish by spring. In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy the beautful work that you and so many other talented artists create, have a safe journey.
Hugs
Sallie
