I haven't been feeling well...
almost 2 days now...
...sinus & just yucky.
So I've been mentally preparing the farmhouse
for it's Christmas/Winter decorating...
and where better to turn for inspiration,
than the "Bible of Primitive Decorating",
my Seasons of Seven Gates Farm book....
Perusing the Christmas pages of this beloved book fills my heart & mind
with long ago frosty mornings, snow-caked mittens & ice cold toes...
...hot-steam radiators with pans of cinnamon scented water upon them...
...kittens curled up into miniscule little furballs sleeping in wooden bowls....
I want to really keep things simple & fresh this year,
...using greens and simple white twinkle-lights.
my color pallette will consist of red, blue, brown & white
...not just white, but all shades of white:

and twigs, and woolen mittens...bird's nests and old silver ornaments~
a quilt will warm the base of a live tree for my kitchen, where I'll decorate it with my old tin cookie cutters...my large tree will hold all of our family's memories on it's branches...along with treasures shared from my primitive friends...

Oh, Lori.........."Seasons" has to be my old time favorite book of all things country and primitive. I have recently been reading through mine also. I am collecting my thoughts before beginning my simple holiday decorating. I think I will go read through my book again!

Hope you feel better soon!
That is the greatest book, isn't it? I haven't looked at mine for a while. Thanks for reminding me of all the wonders in it.
Your plans for Christmas decorating sound simply wonderful. Can't wait to see some pictures.

You've had a rough and plentiful year, Lori, and I have no doubt your home and shop will keep with beautiful Christmas cheer and spirit. I can't wait to see all things holiday from you. Hugs to you and Peter!
I don't want to stir you to being upset but have you thought about designing a Christmas tribute ornament and/or stitchery for your sister this Christmas? I think it would be a nice thing to add this Christmas.
Wow Miss Lori...it sounds like someone has the Christmas spirit. Enjoy your decorating, can't wait to see the photos. I'm crushing on your farmhouse!
Feel better soon.
simple loveliness
well wishes
I can't wait to see pictures either - sounds wonderful!
I usually wait till the day after thanksgiving, but today I was cleaning off the tops of bureaus and figured, why not start decorating a little bit, since I am up there anyways;) I went out and got some long branches from the pines and put those one top with a candle, just a little something for now.
I sure hope you feel better soon.
