Polar Express & Painting

We are expected to get that blast of cold air here soon ~
with heavy winds and some rain/snow mixed in...

it's days like this that I feel my most creative ~
not sure why, but I always want to make something new with too, needle or thread.
.... Winter nesting instincts perhaps?

Days like this tend to be even better with a soup-pot bubbling on the woodstove
and/or a pie in the oven and a fresh loaf of bread in the maker.

a reflective kind of day ~

the beautiful little wire & beaded heart that you see hanging in the window below
was a gift from my friend Evelyne in France ~

...even on a cold & blustery day such as this,
Friendship warms my heart from across the miles :)

raindrops on the window of my sewing room
...and candle bases waiting to be made into make-do's

Yesterday Peter filled the rest of the holes and sanded in the bathroom ~
(lots of holes!)

spackle-freckled

then he began painting the trim!
he kept telling me to wait until it was at least 2 coats,
but I am just so excited I can't wait ~

(hurry hurry)

brighter now in there
even when it's pitch black outside!

 I gave in
and put my camera away until this morning ~
although it is far from sunny,
and there's only a base coat on the wainscoting & trim
it feels like it's all coming together now ~

serious difference, can't wait for the sun to come out!

Saturday,
after we closed the shop for the day
Peter & I drove in to Appomattox, VA
and picked up a few items that will be used in the new bath.

I found an old curtain rod, an ornamental oil lamp holder made from cast iron
and some old cast iron hooks for towels and clothing ~
(I'll share them with you soon!!)

Other Info:

#1 ~ I am in the process of updating my event schedule
and will post it on the sidebar of this blog,
for those that have asked about classes & shows recently ~

#2 ~ the Little Stitches Handwork Club kits will begin to ship this week!!

&

#3 ~ YES! new designs & needfuls are coming and will be released very soon :)

Please be safe & warm today ~
stay home or at least indoors out of the cold.
and PLEASE remember our fur & feather friends out there, they need us!!

* Blessed be *

I repainted the laundry room of our last house in preparation for selling...and what a huge difference it made! The old color wasn't dark, but the white made the small light source a lot more efficient. (We used to call it the Laundry Dungeon.)

Can't wait to see your new treasures.

We have the most lovely snow coming down right now --- all fluffy and white.... it belies the bitter wind that is tossing it around. I have put blankets and rugs on all the bald places on the downstairs floor in an effort to keep the house at least a little warm. Our old house has no subfloor, so the flooring is all that is between us and the cold outside. And, on days like this, we struggle to keep the house warm...

Stay safe and warm! The bathroom is loving Mah-Vo-Lous!

Even with just the one coat it looks great. I'm sure you're getting really excited to have it all put back together......but brighter and newer look.

Love the white bead board, Lori. Your bathroom will be gorgeous! Redoing my daughter in law's home in the prairie style. Lots of creamy whites. I can't wait to see the finished product and your new designs.

How beautiful the wainscoting is . . . I think I could have it in every room of a house! Hmmm . . . does this mean you will want to spend all your time in the bathroom now ? wink, wink? At least there'd be a seat on which to stitch! ;-)

We had all that rain and wind overnight . . . turned to snow, but now it's just COLD . . . but sunny!
Stay toasty dear . . . and yes we must remember all our fur and feathered friends!

We are in the middle of the cold weather you will be getting. (-30 below here in Iowa)

I love reading your blog everyday and following your progress. I have started my own blog and struggle with what to write.

My goal is to jump in there and see what happens.
Thanks for inspiring me.

I am sorry to see your paintings in the bathroom go.. I understand about wanting things light though. I have primitives in my home and I constantly have to remind myself to keep it light. Good luck with the vortex, I am in the middle of it right now. As I write this comment it is -13, windchill-35
