...for the birds ~

Happy Friday Friends & Folk!
I woke this morning to birdsong...loverly twittering birdsong.
it crept into my dreams and gently nudged me awake ~ to enjoy this beautiful day....
as I began my morning ritual(s), i noticed just how much my little feathered friends keep me company here in this old farmhouse.
they visit my feeders just outside the wavy glass windows ~

little sparrow-girl

and they are inside our home as well...in many forms!

schneeman birds and blue calico hearts dangle from my 'tree'...hooked rug is by Kelley Belfast

this old funerary basket with glass insert holds curly-willow branches ~

a small flock of feathered friends ~

red-bird makedo on funnel made by Lori Rippey, little white birdhouse was a gift from Tammy Speicher ~
crow makedo was a found in CT ~ and the nest atop the old red table leg is one of my wonky inventions...

they find their way into my needlework designs ~
hooked, stitched or punched...

dancing crow on a sampler graces our keeping room....

and I collect fallen nests too ~
we are forever finding them here around our fields and I lovbe each & every one...

fallen nests displayed on shelf built by my brother in law, Roy Thompson ~
hooked rug "Daisy" designed & hooked by....me!

and being a lover of textiles old and new ~
I even find that little birds grace my curtains...

tattered old appliqued curtain valence found in PA ~ I LOVE this.

and here is a photograph of MY nest....
cozy & bright and everything I need right in reach.
it's here that I'll dream my designs into fruition,
usually watching a movie or listening to classical, swing or bluegrass music.

my cozy nest ~ lined with wool, linen & cotton...
I even have 'worms' in here!
(wool worms....)
I hope this Friday brings you hours of inspiration & creativity ~
and don't forget to feed/water the birds!

Did you know today is the start of the Great Backyard Bird Count? You could tell the world what kind of birds you've seen in your own backyard.

You have a knack at tying in all different colors together, and still make it look country-peaceful!

I have a bird feeder right outside my living room window. I enjoy watching them. Doing The Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend. I also collect nests. Friends bring them to me. They are such treasures.

I loved strolling thorough this cozy post of birds, and I got to feeling so cozy. Made me want to tidy up my nest so I could relax and work with some woody yarn a bit.
