Crows and 40 ct. Linen

It's a good thing I take my camera with me when I head outdoors here ~
I never know what I'll find!

for example,
I heard a ruckus on the side of the house ~
the chickens were whoop-ing it up and the peacock was sounding-off…
...a sure sign of interlopers somewhere near the barnyard.

and so I rounded the corner and here they were:
a 'murder' of crows ~
yes, a group of crows is called a 'murder'…
why?
I dunno!
...but it eerily suits-them.

I love them.
they are always welcome here.
I love their sleekness and depth of colors in their otherwise black feather-suits.

I love their eyes, their beaks and their legs!
…if I was blessed to keep company with one and tame it ~ I think my life would be complete.
(oh, and an owl too ~ don't forget the owl…hush-up Joan)

4 juvenile corvine paying in the yard ~ almost oblivious to me…except that on on the far left.
...he has his eye on me!

I've watched crows since I was young…
I love to hear them crackle & growl from the tree-tops ~
I enjoy their antics and their acute intellect.

now the one in the middle sees me….

I wish I could wrap my arms around one of their necks & fly off…
how fun would that be?

uh-oh…the jig is up.
now they ALL see me!

 Good-bye my friends ~
...come back again soon!!
Thank you for the visit :)

whoosh

I've been stitching on my 40ct Old Farmhouse Linen…
~ working on a really cool little project that will be available soon.
(me thinks you'll be pleased)

I'm using 1 strand of floss over 2 threads of 40ct. linen.

small work makes me happy

you can see a penciled-line on my linen ~
that's to keep me from stitching outside the design
... because the finish will be attached to a small box-lid

it will be one design in a series of designs
that I'm working on…
based on the stitching of a fictional woman's sewing necessities ~

quiet and peaceful

do you like my little needle-keep?
it's magnetic ~
I took an early mother of pearl sparrow button and glued a magnet on the back
then put another small magnet under my linen…

a useful thing….

I'll leave you with this link to visit a blog with poems about Crows ~

Hoping you enjoy many little stitches today
and perhaps a visit or two from your neighborhood crows!

* Blessed be *
Lori

I guess I have a new...small...respect for crows. Will have to read up on them.

Your linen looks wonderful.nnwill have to order some. Your project is intriguing, too.

Clever you!! I like that pinkeep. We love the crows, too. Steve always cackles back to them. They roost in the trees at the edge of our property. The jays always raise a ruckus when "Brother Crow " and family put in an appearance.

I LOVE crows too! I wish you could see all the crows that cross over our home in the evenings to head to the river.. Amazing! They are welcome in my sycamore trees anytime!

Crows are supposed to be the most intelligent bird....as per a KPBS Documentary on them, they are quite amazing.....what a sweet needle holder ~ smart girl!

crows are simply fascinating... they rise up, like great sooty clouds, twirling, twirling... and settle again like the lovely autumn leaves....
i always feel especially blessed when a murder of crows comes to cawl ~ like stately, upright citizens of old.... each one should have his own top hat and miniature american flag to wave at passersby....
