Can Purple be Primitive?

Of course it can...
how silly!!!

I use purple in ALOT of my work...
all different hues and shades find their way into my workbasket and into my designs ~

especially love the 'dusty' shades...

vintage velvets, hand dyed woolens ~

...and when i can find them, I hoard cotton fabric in these same shades ~
preferrably the reproduction Civil War era prints.

here are photos of some of my previous works ~
...all including hints of purples :

needlefelted witch pocket with hand dyed wool roving
(in private collection)

Jasper, a needlepunched tomcat pillow
(in private collection)

my Sunflower Witch design - hooked rug
(hooked and color planned by Pat Cross)

tiny mohair bear carrying an even tinier needlepunched pocket
(in private collection)

mixed media painting Witch with Goat
(in private collection)

and I have many more snaps, but won't bore you!
Oh, and of course, the pics above are "Hallowe'en-ish"
because that's my favorite thing to do!!

How do you incorporate purple into your work??
Do you use purple at all?

I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased my fabric from
SPOONFLOWER...I am overwhelmed by the great response and hope you all like it and will find fun ways to use it...
PLEASE send me your photos of your work using my fabric and I'll share it here on my blog for all to see!!!!

Blessings from the Farm!

Your purples are beautiful. I think the muted and dusty one's suit prim creations just fine. Lavender is purple and is such a pretty thing in prim decor. Thanks for sharing. -Steph-

Purple can be anything it wants to be!!! Love it. I have a beautiful Civil War replica cotton print in dusty lavender with cream winding leaf print. Don't know how to share a photo here....

Lori your creations with purple are a dream! I have seen early brown civil war fabric that has turned to the dusty purple lavender you speak of. Love how you've captured that essence in your work!

I like purples but, like you, mostly the dusty shades or what I like to call dirpled...kinda dirty and faded. Oh, I love your sunflower witch!

Not in my wildest dreams would I have ever said I like the color Purple because growing up I detested it...but over the past few years it has really grown on me.
Love your examples.
