a pocketful of rye,
four and twenty blackbirds.....
four and twenty blackbirds.....
...but here's what was happening out my back window!
mob of blackbirds (starlings) gathered on my cluster of ancient black walnut trees....
I guess they are preparing for the weather-to-come?
they always gather this time of year. but never have I seen such a large bunch before...
drove my poor cats absolutely over the cuckoos nest!

the shop will be open only until 2pm today, so if you're venturing out
~ Please Be Careful ~
we also have to drive to Powhatan for Hannah's last band competiton in this mess...
it won't be cancelled unless it is truly undriveable, they will hold it indoors if possible...
(I'll bring my earplugs if that's the case!)
so wish us all luck!
Wishing you all a beautiful day, no matter the weather!

It's always a bit creepy to see so many birds together after The Birds! Good luck with the booming brass at the competition! My Sam played the trumpet...so I know!
Love the photos of the birds ~ Wow! Waht a sight! Have fun, be careful & good luck to Hannah! I have a trombone & a tuba player here at home, so I know what it is like indoors ;)Never did figure out why my youngest decided on the tuba lol!

Whenever I hear them I drop everything and run outside to take in the sound. I just love to hear the beautiful racket. I wish it would last a little longer
Your photos are lovely, but a little creepy too. You didn't leave the bird seed sack open did you...;)
My thoughts went to the Birds too.
I would have loved to seen and heard all that racket in those wonderful trees!!!!!!
