~ Hot as......HELLO!

 Hello Friends & Folk!
...and a happy hotter than HELLo,
sticky, muggy, & downright YUCK of a Monday early evening.

I'm not a fan of the heat of Summer.
give me a chilly October/November day any time!

well, at least I'm 'thinking' about those months while hooking a bit ~
I was cleaning up my sewing room {stash/hoard/collection/squirrel's nest}
and cam upon some wools that I guess I hid from myself?
(i don't remember them at all lol)
but
that's ok because I'm actually doing something with them...

I'm trying to give my eyes a break from cross stitch & embroidery,
but with hands that are never idle, I need something to work on ~
can you relate?

I figured, if I made a few small hook-lings,
that would be my respite from needle and thread for a little while
{that is until Winter/Christmas designs start creeping in my brain & workbasket}

being so blooming HOT, I hook on the porch of the studio ~
in the morning or later in the afternoon.

thankfully we have ceiling porch fans, so there is always a breeze at the flick of a switch
if Mother Nature does not provide.

a small pumpkin is finished, and I'm almost done with a little witch's hat.
...perhaps I'll do a crescent moon, a black cat, another pumpkin or three...
who knows?

although it is sticky out there,
I'm actually not minding working with my newly-found, not quite lost &
forgotten about 'hidden' wools.
just hooking the thought of Autumn tricks me into thinking
that it's cooler than it is ~ ha!

I don't know where I got this frame from,
but have had it for a few years...I believe it is an Appleton? but the label is missing.
I usually work on my Hook'n Punch Frame
{the ones that Peter makes and we sell in our Etsy shop)
but this one was close at hand so I'm using it.
It is a bit 'high' for me, though -
meaning it sits tall in my lap and makes my shoulders ache a bit.
oh well, make do for the moment, right?

I'm using my Miller hooks for these smaller cut projects.
{a size 7 cut is my favorite cut to hook in}
as you can see, the wear on the hook to the far right shows my go-to hook)

Peter drilled a hole in the handle for me
so I can thread a waxed cord through it and wear it around my neck...
I have a tendency to put hooks in my pockets and then try to sit down.
I wouldn't recommend that.
:)

 Well that's it for now...
I'll be back when I have a few more of these finished!

Keep Cool and Keep Creating!

~ Photo Drop ~

 Well April is a memory....
where does the time go anymore?

I wake up at 6:30 every morning and hit the floor running.
I do accomplish A LOT during each day, but I'll turn around and it will be 4:30 in the afternoon!
what's happening? trying to be more 'present' and in-the-moment, but whooooosh!
there goes another day ~

oh well, such is life I guess....at least life in my 60's.
time went by slower when I was a child ~ I'm sure many of you can relate.

so, all I have today for you are some photo's from my phone.
just life in general, nothing fancy, but our little daily life:

fat little squirrel

farmhouse roof getting sanded and repainted by Peter

who is that masked man? it's Roof Man!

Lady {Ladybug} our freckled grand-dog girl

wild poppies that Peter transplanted for me

rest in peace sweet, dear willie nelson.

"I'll try to be better at posting."
(she says under her breath, every single time she remembers to post.)

~ simple embroidery ~

 Good Morning Friends & Folk...
and a very happy Tuesday to us all.
 ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

we are awaiting yet another snowfall.
with predictions anywhere from 2-3" to 11-13" ~ oh what fun....

so it's been another minute since I've last posted and
in between working on new cross stitch models, I have been embroidering {shocking!}
I love those little X's and all, but they get a bit much having to continuously count them,
so I turn to embroidery to free my brain from math.

I recently made this necklace below,
from scrap floss, a piece of silk ribbon, some osnaburg,
a bit of crochet thread and some cardboard...
very simple to do.

I embroidered it mostly in split stitch, but added small french knots and chain stitch,
and love the contrasting colors of the browns, greens, white & red.

to me, the colors and motif look vintage-farmhouse-y ~
which of course I personally love.

the same crochet thread used for the chain,
was also used to stitch the basket and flowers,
and I used all 6 strands of the scrap DMC floss to fill the entire background
and then the knotted red portions.

I've made these types of necklaces before,
and am wondering if there is any interest in a a class perhaps?
all hand done, so no sewing machine required...
just a needle and thread & fabric.
{oh a bit of glue!}

if you have a group or guild that might be interested in coming out to the Studio, for a class on a necklace
❤ you can email me at notforgottenfarmwitch@gmail.com and we can talk more.

If this motif isn't your style, I'm always happy to design a special motif
for your groups/guild, so let me know your thoughts!

 well,
the teapot is whistling and I need to chuck a log into that stove...
~ wishing you a warm & cozy day filled with all simple & beautiful things!
