~ Feathers & Thread Tales ~

Good Snowy Sunny Sunday Morning
Friends & Folk!

after our recent, wonderful snowfall ~
we are having beautiful sunshine today
...albeit only in the 20's when we woke.

I love to see snow when it sparkles in the sunshine, don't you?

Peter made a quick makeshift bird feeder from a trash can lid for our bird friends...
here are a few who visited this morning:

 Blue Jays & Grackles
Snow Buntings & Cardinals....

their antics crack me up!
we put out peanuts in the shell, dried fruit, sunflower seeds and millet
~ boy do they love us!
{{ we had to take down the bird feeders for repair, hence the lid! }}

I've finished stitching the model for the
Jan/Feb/Mar 2017 Little Stitches Handwork Club {LSHC}

a sweet girl with her pet bird...

... now I just need to 'finish' finish it!
I'll be shipping club kits this week to current members :)

I'm finishing up other projects for soon to be released patterns ~
punch needle has been in progress for weeks,
as my little punching-station is set up in our keeping room,
which is next to our cozy woodstove...

I'm excited to show you the new designs!!
I hope you'll like them ~
think:
 F O L K Y

of course I'll be including a few hearts into the mix,
along with more spring-like & everyday designs...
❤

and
here are my recent stitches for the
1 Year of Stitches 2017 project ~

I am truly enjoying this...
and seeing everyone's progress as well!

 today
I added a thread spool & needle :)

Wishing you all a beautiful day
... filled with peace & contentment!

~ Traveling with my Tools and SHIPPING Notice ~

Hello Friends & Folk ~
Happy peaceful Sunday to you all!

I wanted to pop in here and let you all know
that I will be leaving tomorrow {Monday} for a trip to Connecticut to visit family for a week...
and all open orders should be in tomorrow's mail for you to receive this coming week.

**PLEASE NOTE**
any ETSY SHOP, phone or email orders that are placed
between Monday Oct. 3rd through Monday Oct. 10th
will not be shipped until after Tuesday Oct. 4th
thank you kindly for your understanding & patience :)

When I travel ~
I bring everything with me....
you know, a little of this & a smattering of that to keep me busy.
but this trip will be spent working on finished items for upcoming shows,
and new winter/holiday designs for punch & cross stitch.

Peter & I went out last night to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary
{which isn't until tomorrow, the 3rd, but I'll be leaving then, so....}
anyhoo,
we stopped off at Joann's and I bought this new pink & black tool box
... for my punching supplies ~
no, I don't like the colors. at all.
but I do love the organization I get with it!

everything but the kitchen sink is in there!

kinda like a ladies tackle-box, huh?

I'll use this only when traveling....
I prefer to use my beautiful punch needle station & winder box
when I'm home working or demonstrating at shows,
but this is a strong little workhorse that I know will hold up to my travels...

AND I got it with my 40% off coupon too,
so we know we love a bargain.
....just wish it came in different colors though.

well, I'll be heading up the dusty road bright & early,
so I'll touch base with you all when I have the chance once settled at Mom's house.

see you again soon!

~ 'Tis the Season ~

~ Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
and happy Wednesday to you all!

it's been a tad warmer these past few days,
dear Mother Nature is reminding us that Summertime is not quite over yet…
and the weather-folks say the humidity will make a comeback this week as well.
.ugh.

… but, in this little farm witch's mind ~
∞∞∞ it is perpetually Autumn ∞∞∞
and what better way to do my needlework than by candlelight in the evenings
~ while watching two of my all-time favorite movies.

yesterday was still nice enough for me {read: less-humid}
to punch on the patio in the afternoon…
~ with some sweet tea and classical music playing in the background.

I love sitting there,
listening to my chickens clucking and my kittens mewing
while the rhythm of my punching soothes my soul & my mind can wander to places in my memory...

as Peter is working on our farmhouse,
I get to enjoy a little Summer/Autumn-ish decorating ~
I put a bunch of faux sprigs of bittersweet and chinese lanterns in my rusty planter, that already has basil, lantana & mums growing in it…had to leave the flags from Labor Day out too ;)
{{can you see jack peeking out from my urn?}}

I'm working on punching these angel wings for another finished item for the upcoming show ~
loving my Valdani thread colors in this one :)

Wishing you all a day filled with peace & creativity, my Friends!

~ Autumn in the Mail ~

Beloved Autumn ~
was waiting for me in my mailbox yesterday…
couldn't wait to get down our long dusty road
~ back into the cool farmhouse to do a little light reading.

I also received two spools of this wonderful wool thread from my friend Kathy at

this is 100% rustic Wool Thread from Moire ~
and as a designer I thought I would give it a try…

at first,
I threaded my Dimensions punch needle with Medium tip with the orange wool thread…
it was too 'thin' for me,
~ so I ended up doubling the thread in the needle and I love it!
I'm sure those of you who work with a small punch needle tip will find the single strand works well,
I just prefer my medium needles and a little bit more of a 'denser' look ~

here is the 'back' or 'working side' of my practice design…
you can see the 2 threads better:

and here is the 'front' of my work ~
you can see that I've punched two rows of the doubled-thread
and how it 'floofs' up better using the doubled thread.
{yes, 'floof' is a word. in my vocabulary, anyway}
;)

Using the Dimensions medium tip needle, which is NON-adjustabe, the loops are at the same height as they would be if I used my Medium Ultra Punch Needle set on the #1 setting…

so far, so good.
~ me likey.

I will be mixing it up to finish this, as I'll finish the orange part using the Moire Wool Thread
and use DMC cotton 6 strand {all 6 strands} for the facial details & background.

the Sun is playing hide & seek today.
and I don't want to play.
I'll just let it continue to hide behind those clouds up there….

the farmhouse is dark & cool when the sun hides.
and my favorite chair waits for me to continue my work ~

quiet corner of my world….
except for the occasional squawk from Peaches,
letting me know he wants to come out & play.
for him,
I'll oblige…
