~ A February Walk ~

It does a body & soul good
to get outside and breathe the fresh morning air
before I settle in to my stitching chair...

~ come for a short walk with me, won't you?
having a friend along makes everything even better.

our daffodils are waking up...

Pinocchio & Daisy beginning to shed their winter woolies...

Good Friends they are ~

mornin' to you too my sweet Bobby!

dried Lamb's Burr pod.

our Harry Lauder Walking Stick is showing signs of new catkins for spring ~

Beauty Berry is still beautiful...to me.

Rose of Sharon pods...

~ that was nice, wasn't it?
even a short walk in Nature with friends is so very healing for us...

my teakettle is whistling to me now,
I'm off to make a steaming cup of peppermint laced with honey....
then find my needle and thread.

Hoping you all find beauty in even the smallest things!

~ February Again ~

 I know him ~
 February's Thrush,
And loud at eve he valentines...
On sprays that paw the naked bush
Where soon will sprout the thorns and bines.

~George Meredith, "The Thrush in February," c.1885

~ Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
we have made it to another February first!
February is that month of limbo...cold, dark & seemingly dreary.
But, it holds so much promise!
in 28 short days, we are that much closer to Spring ~
a most glorious season indeed.

This month will find me:
Planning gardens, sketching, writing in my journals...
 {{ preparing for much needed painting of the interior of this old farmhouse }}
~ keeping cozy at the foot of the woodstove with needle in hand ~

It is a month of celebration for us too,
with Saint Valentine's Day in the middle,
and my birthday at the very end...
~ 55 trips around the Sun for me this year!

Here are some of my favorite photos of interesting Hearts that I found on Pinterest ~
{{ Click HERE to follow me on Pinterest }}

please note:
these were not made by me ~
I cannot take the credit for such beauty

I think I'll take cue from these artisans and create an embroidered & stuffed heart today...
I'll dig through my bottomless piles of trims, beads & other things to add to mine!

I will use these fabrics to make my heart:

and here are my thread choices ~

and finally I will embellish with lace snippets ~
some beads, buttons and other things...
{can you spy the tiny blown glass doll's eye below?}

and to help you get inspired,
here is a freebie template for you to embellish your very own way ~

click on the heart below,
then save template to your computer and print out any size you'd like
to finish it in any manner that makes your heart happy!

I would especially ♥
to see yours when finished if you decide to play along!
I'll share photos of mine later today on FB and Instagram :)
