Good Morning Friends & Folk ~

...and June is upon us.

I have been revisiting my Pinterest boards, 

looking at antique miniature samplers again...

this one, below ~

 is my very fist sampler I stitched over one, or 'in miniature'

on 28ct linen to which I severely stained, aged and distressed.

I loved stitching the teapot, basket and dog especially.

{pattern for this sampler, called 'the Little Brown Dog' sampler can be found HERE}

 And I decided to stitch another over-one sampler, 

beginning with this small Brown-headed Cowbird!

this is being stitched with one strand of floss {DMC} over one onto 30ct linen

{a scrap of my hand dyed/stained Old Farmhouse linen} 

 I'm designing this as I stitch, not following any chart ~

just letting my imagination flow.

Have you ever stitched over on on linen?

do you enjoy it? LOL

I find it works up rather quickly for me, 

and it is easier for me to not miscount, since you are relatively stitching in each hole...

would love to hear your thoughts!

DMC threads: 310, 400, 420, 645, 926, 3064, 3782

model stitched using 2 strands over two threads and finished into a sawdust stuffed pillow

 and ~

"My Threads are Cut"

This little gem had me on pins and needles {pun intended} while stitching it...
it is reminiscent of those wonky-bordered schoolgirl sampler of long ago that we love so much!
two tiny houses joined by a tidy little fence, a basket-ful of the words 'my threads are cut - my work is done.'

stitch count: 129 x 146
linen used: 40ct Old Farmhouse linen from Notforgotten Farm
Weeks Dye Works threads: tarragon, cognac, sand, schneckley, beige, confederate grey, molasses & havana

model stitched using 2 strands over two threads and framed under glass in a handpainted frame by yours truly {email/message me for frame availability}

~ Fudge & Nuts! ~

This post has nothing to do with fudge...

or nuts for that matter.

but

I'm sure you can figure out a couple of choice words I may have used, 

and perhaps may have even concocted a few new 'choice' words 

~ when I got to the other side of my border that I was stitching

and this happened:

I will not fret over this.

{I keep telling myself} 

I will not fret!

instead ~ 

I will embrace the mistake as being "inspired" by those school girl samplers of long ago,

whose borders didn't quite meet up either:

I do have a perfect verse that I will be including within this humble border of mine tho,

one that speaks of my frustration upon realizing my mistake, but also with a bit of humor...

on to the next portion of the border next...
