Yesterday I made this:
I've toyed with the idea for a while...
~ well, for a year almost to be precise.
For a long time I've worn my favorite hook around my neck,
as Peter drilled a hole in it for me to slide a length of hemp or ribbon through the wooden handle....
but
I wanted to make a wearable pocket to hold my hook instead ~
and then got to thinkin'...
how about a fish to hold my hook?
{ terribly corny pun intended of course }
and this is what came from that ~
a Big Mouth Fish!
and I enjoyed using a plethora of different textiles to hook him with
like heavy weight wool yarn, light weight yarn, beautiful Fair Trade silk sari ribbon,
~ shiny, crinkly rayon ribbon and of course, some wool strips.
{{ in a rainbow of colors I might add }}
:)
I chose an equally fun cotton fabric from my stash for the backing...
one I've used before as a lining for another hooked purse.
~ just plain fun!
it's comfy to wear too ~
and can hold a couple of my hooks in that big mouth of his!
I just listed the pattern for my fishy little friend in our Etsy shop ~

or

and of course I would LOVE to see your version of this!!
Have a creative Sunday my sweet friends ~

ReplyDeleteWhat a Fun Fishy !!! Love all the textures & colors !!! Happy Fishy !!!
ReplyDeleteDarn cute, and quite a catch (you little Pisces, you!)!
ReplyDeleteCute idea.
ReplyDeleteBut then I got to thinkin_ I Love when you say that. This is so wonderful! Could you make one for me to take in the boat with me for my hook? I'd love to buy this and wear it in the boat. Mark would die laughing and I'd be quite smug about it. Evey woman in the BWCA area should have a fish around her neck to hold what ever strikes her fancy. That brain! That amazing brain!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this new design. Great idea !
ReplyDeleteOK, this is about the sweetest and most creative idea EVER....
ReplyDeleteDoes it ever end for you. Can you please pass on some of those ideas circulating in your mind. Love the idea and use of color.
BTW, although we have never met, your name came up on Saturday as I visited Ali Strebel's shop. We talked about how much you stitch ...always creating. Enjoy your day and thanks for sharing with all of us.
