Spring in a Jar ~

Since it's too early to actually work in our gardens just yet, and I am itching to get some dirt under my fingernails...I needed a little dose of Spring...
SO
after organizing my wool worms into my collection of glass canisters or jars,
I had a couple left over and decided to do this:

tiny springs of green ~ housed in my glass jar

I remember making terrariums as a young girl...
also remember my mom keeping a couple of larger ones made from 'leaker' fish tanks...

beautiful, black Earth and finger-like roots...

These are once again becoming quite popular
and can bee seen in many home decorating magazines...
using everything glass ~ from jars like this, to broken lightbulbs and clear-glass ornaments!

but wait...who is that standing amongst the grennery in my little glassed garden?

an interloper in the vicinity?

a tiny helper perhaps?
... or a caretaker of the potted plant?

i s e e y o u .

oh, it's only Phineaus ~

...my miniscule friend...
wishing me a dose of Gnome-cheer !

hello Phineaus!
Now I'll have to visit our local Goodwill
for more glass containers to turn into small
vessel-gardens.

What's that you say Phinny?
yes, you can come along too...

Hoping you all have a green-thumb kind of day!

Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

  2. What a great idea! This time of year, in so many areas, it seems that though it's officially spring, there are no signs of it. I have a glass container, and will have to do this. Thank you for the inspiration.

  4. Oh no, the comment about searching Goodwill for more glass jars!!! This could be the sound of my own voice. I have been pulled into the little world of terrariums too. Each one is the home of some little animal figure, usually found in the model train isle of Hobby Lobby or Michaels! The local TSC farm store has a lovely collection of dollhouse-sized animals too.

  6. LOVE THESE....years ago I did them for my home but then the fad went away...I am happy they are back.
I just may have to make one for my screen room. But I don't have a gnome...I may have to find a friend for mine!
    Blessings,
    Karen
