Hi Lori ! My Grandmother hooked large rugs , she learned from Pearl Mc Gowen and a book signed by here. I have her Bliss cutter in the original box ! I have several of her rugs , but they are in need of repair , so they are tucked away. Then in the 80's I went to Dorr Woolens and I got hooked !!! Back then I did 3 & 4 size kits , they were country looking chair pads & a few smaller rugs. Every year I create something new . I love the primitive wide cut , and hand torn fluffed dyed wools. I have boxes of wool that my Mother & I collected thru the years at the many old wool factories. Most need to be over dyed and fluffed . It is such fun to do and being part of your Rug Hookers group is very inspiring .
ReplyDeleteStarted hooking in 1995,,,, with a friend! And started primitives,,, my favorites,,,, now doing brighter mats or wall hangings,,,,,
ReplyDeleteJust such a wonderful craft,,,,
Have a room full of wools, yarns etc,,,, just love my space,,,,
Sure get inspiration from everywhere,,, including you, lori,,,
Thanks for sharing,,,
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteI learned to hook about 3 years ago but due to 16 months with Frozen Shoulder, I was unable to hook anything and only just started back about a month ago! I feel like I still am a "newbie" but so enjoy learning as much as I can from many blogger friends like you, who always inspire me!!
I am so happy I was able to join a group in my area where I can go to be with other like-minded women who love working with wool!!
Thank you for sharing your love of creating with us! You TRULY are an INSPIRATION!!!!
Hope you have a wonderful and creative day!
Heart Hugs~

You and Joan will no doubt have a wild and wooly time at the Virginia Rug Fest this Saturday!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love your collection of children's brooms...!
Enjoy, wish it was closer...
ReplyDeleteWell, I got HOOKED about 11 years ago when a wonderful friend and mentor taught me how to pull loops! There has been something on my frame ever since. Thank you, Lori, for convincing me I have a creative side!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished my first hooked rug, it's as addicting as punch needle. Now I've got all kinds of ideas floating around in this head of mine. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been hooking for only a couple of years and I have finished hooking several rugs and pillows but some my rugs still need binding ! I love hooking them just need to like finishing more! I also make lots of primitive dolls so I’m always trying to juggle time to hook and sew every day! I look forward to seeing you again soon!
