Are you drawn to certain colors?
do spicy oranges and muted browns make your heart beat faster?...or how about a sky blue accompanied by poison apple green and goldenrod?
and black....not any black, but black-olive black, or soot. ah yes....soot.
These are my colors ~ not just-for 'autumn' colors...
I use them all year long in my designing and clothing even!
I am enjoying working on finished goods for our show this coming Saturday:
this is what my worktable looks like at the moment ~
applique, rug hooking, rug punching, a little needle-felting and embroidery to boot;
all in those familiar colors.
oh!
and a wool bag that holds my iPad even wears the same :)
tell me what your favorite colors are?
~ what inspires your color palette?

So much Autumn goodness there on your table, Lori! Love that cat and his mysterious eyes, especially...
ReplyDeleteI like rich colors...deep and warm...and jewel tones best. Right now I'm designing an appliqué work for a friend about the Blackfeet Indian tribe, which will feature Beaver Medicine and Buffalo...so you know that the rich and varied browns will dominate!
Will your shop be open beyond the 16th? LOVE your colors!
ReplyDeleteAll the colors you mentioned inspire me but I would also add a muddy plum purple and a deep, brick garnet. Yum!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a Sept. baby so Fall colors come first to me. I love what you have shown and would add a deep red/brown to the mix.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful, Lori! I don't know how you do it! You must drink, eat, and sleep in creativity!!! I know your show will be fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteOh what beautiful treasures you have made !!!!! I love your colors too ,but I need denim blues & deep reds too ...... just love how your needle punch looks !!! Love your ipad purse !!! Have a Great show this weekend !!!
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot to mention your wonderful ears of Indian Corn !!!! Love those too !!!
ReplyDeleteLove all of your work Lori! You are so talented! Would you share with me what type of yarn you use to needle punch these pieces? And do you use an Oxford punch to do it? It appears to be a heavy (maybe wool?) yarn.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Colleen
