Taking a deep breath ~

Now that this day is over....this week is over...
I can finally let you all know
just what has kept me awake at night
and busy during the day ~

Aside from our Buddy being sick ~
...then having to lose him yesterday to Cancer,
I have been occupied with a court trial here in Virginia ~

a trial that I was selected to be a jury member of.
a trial of the abduction & murder of a young woman...
a trial that ended today with the jury conviction of her killer.
a monster.
an evil evil individual.

without going into much detail
and
out of the utmost respect for this girls' family,
I needed to just let you know that now that it is over...

I need a little time to heal from the atrocities of the trial,
and I need a little more time to heal from the loss of a beloved friend.

so there you have it.
I feel like I can now let go of alot and
take a deep breath....

I have my computer on,
and I sometimes will be lurking on FB to see what you all have been up to,
to kind of to take my mind off recent events.
....but please don't feel slighted if I don't answer you immediately.
please don't be angry if it takes me a day or so to get back in touch with you for an order.
my email inbox is bursting at the seams with well-wishes and concerns,
and for them I am extremely grateful and thankful.

I'll be OK ~ in due time...
I'm just gonna enjoy our peaceful farm for a bit,
stitch alot and lose myself a little....

Thanks so much for understanding my friends ~

* Blessed be *
Lori

  1. Sending love & Hugs to you Lori... I'm sooooooo very sorry for your loss of that great beautiful boy of yours... Buddy was awesome- and I so loved seeing him in all your farm and daily pics...

And I hope you can push past the feelings that you had to endure- as you were on that jury- witnessing first hand the horror of what people do- and what the families have to go through...

Breathe deep- hold those that are close...

    Sending love.....

  5. OMG Lori you were involved that trial! Holy crap what an awful situation to be exposed to. Having been through a murder trial myself I know what it can do to ones soul. HUGE cyber hug coming your way.... Having to deal with that horrific mess and then to loose your beloved Buddy....there are no words. I wish I was closer I would be there in a heart beat to sit with you and have tea and make my rather large shoulder available. Please try to find comfort in who and what you love...this is when family is so necessary.... Blessed Be my sweet friend....

  6. How utterly horrid to go through such an experience. I would never want to do it. Glad for you that it is over and done with, but I suppose it will never really be forgotten; sorry for that. And very sad and sorry for your Buddy. I have lost many animal friends and it is ever painful. Our great pyrs are only 1 year old, and I can't even imagine being without them.

  7. Thank you for serving on the jury. I am sure that is was terrible. But what a wonderful gift you have given the family, justice and knowing the person that took their loved one will be punished as our courts decide.
Don't think of the horror, think of the family. Hang in there!

  8. I really respect you for what you have just been through. It is enough that you have had to say goodbye to a dear animal friend, but to have endured the horrible details of such a trial cannot have been easy. I pray that this Spring will refresh and heal you.

  14. Lori,
So sorry for your loss of Buddy...we have a 14 year old Lab (Lucy) who we adore, who is slowly going downhill...so hard.

In addition to this heartbreak, and the awfulness of the trial, just go into your shop, touch the fabrics, wool, and threads..sit down, look around, then stitch a little (or a lot)..has to help!

  15. Lori,
I am so sorry about your beloved Buddy. I know the pain of losing a "fur baby". I have been through it many times.
I am also sorry that you had to endure such a horrendous trial. It's easy to read about things like this, and even though we are concerned, we can turn the page and go on with our lives. To be involved in it so totally has to be so disturbing. At least the trial turned out as it should. Take some time to recover, and be proud of yourself for doing your sacred duty. Hugs.

  17. Bless you. I can't watch movies with such things knowing perfectly well that it is a movie. To have to hear all the details would take a tremendous amount of bravery and heart. You don't need to respond, just take a breath and know that you are in our prayers.

  18. Oh, dear heart.....I am so very sorry. I thought Buddy was doing ok...that's a shock to me. Big sweet boy was so very loved.

In time the memories of the trial will fade and it will be easier to bear. I know you will find joy in all that surrounds you and you'll come back to us when the time is right.

  39. Oh Lori. To lose a Dog takes part of your heart.
And then to have to deal with a Monster.
Center your soul again. Nature is one of the best ways to do that I know of.

  40. Your sorrow is our sorrow. Keeping you in my heart and thoughts as you morn your dear family member and release the overwhelming experience from the trial.

  41. I think losing a dog is so hard but losing a big dog is some how harder because they cast such a large shadow over your heart. Glad the trial is over and hoping the victim's family can heal some. May I suggest you immerse yourself in some pinterest? Look at beautiful images to wipe away the horror you have seen.

  42. So sorry for your loss of Buddy, my heart hurts for you and yours and for Lazy too, he must be lost :(. I was stunned when I read you were on the jury for the murder of Alexis! It was horrid enough just to read/ hear about that local awful thing happening but that wicked monster. All I can say is you all did the right thing by putting him away forever that he can harm no more! Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way, take time to heal and breath again my friend! Xoxo

  43. Dear Lori, My heart goes out to you on the loss of your beloved pet.. I think it is one of the hardest things we have to go through and it takes time for the pain to ease.. We've lost many kitties and two dogs, which will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever..
To have to serve on jury duty for such a crime had to be a wrenching experience..
You are blessed to have a fabulous home, husband, daughter, farm and animals.. Spend time with your family and your critters. Do some stitching that will be enjoyable and get out in the fresh air and take a nice long walk..
Don't feel that you have to rush back to your routine unless that is your desire..
    I'll be thinking about you.
    Hugs, Charlotte in Virginia

  47. "Lord make an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

Divide Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,;to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for It is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and It is in dying that we are born to eternal life. The prayer of St. Francis, loved animales, may he confort You in the loss of Buddy, may he being You place and Light.
